We stopped at a pub in South Cerney high street a couple of years ago on the way to Fairford. Not sure how close to the airfield this is, but the pub was OK.

Parking on the wide street outside and it has a hydrant...most of the reason for stopping officer!! Nothing to do with being outside a pub at all officer!! ;-)

there are 2 pubs opposite each other in South Cerney, and another down the road from them. Again, a busy main road between them (in the village) and the airfield - even further than Kemble.

The two pubs that are near each other also have a river running by them, so plenty of water thumbsup

nope.

its also all military, so i cant see it going there. we used to race RC Cars in one of the hangers, all had security passes and booking in/out to get on/off the site.

I have heard a rumour that the Americans might be moving out of Fairford Airbase, so that might go private like Kemble did, in which case it could be situated there.

incase anyone didnt know, Kemble Airfield is now called "Cotswold Airport"

Last time I was in South Cerney was with a coach load of troops for Iraq. It was mainly American then. I understand the Americans moved out last year as did the RAF Movements Sqdn. I heard it was now shut as far as the military was concerned.
Info came through military sources.
I also heard that since renaming Kemble as Cotswold Airport, it was to be developed for more civilian arrivals/departures and may no-longer be available for traction engine rallies etc.,

It would be appreciated if the gossip and rumours were put aside for a few more days and people just come along and enjoy this years event at Kemble on the Airfield.

Our exciting plans will be outlined in this year's event guide and an official statement will be posted on the event website, as and when full details are confirmed.

Regarding road runs, quite correctly the road to the pub is a public highway. However as the show is run to raise money for local charities, and one being the local air ambulance after it flew into the show to try to save a woman trapped in a car on the main road, who tragically died at the scene, we would suggest that engines of any size use caution on what is a very fast, notorious peice of road.

There are plenty of exhibitors who would no doubt rather forget that day.

it is true that the americans are leaving fairford but the raf are using the base and it is also home to the riat the worlds biggest airshow and has 1 of the longest runways in the world and will never be sold off to private investors as it is also a nato bomber base, also there already a steam rally held in fairford in august 2 weeks after kemble
