Boxing Day Steam in Norfolk
Ruston & Hornsby no. 113043 'Oliver' had a run out in glorious sunshine on Boxing Day. (One of the rules of chasing traction engines with a camera: if the sun is out, it is probably in the wrong direction.) This is just a flavour of the enjoyment:-
Ready to go. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67538 Setting off, with the sun more or less in the right place for photography. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67539 On the open road. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67540 Resting at the White Horse. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67541 Looking with the sun. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67542 Through the pub window. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67543 An appreciative audience. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67544 Back on the open road. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67545 Sun in the wrong place for a simple camera - again. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67546 Arriving at the King's Head. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67547 Not much room in the car park. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67548 But just enough to turn the entire 'train'. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67549 Final view - with the sun in the right position! https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67550 I had to leave 'Oliver' at the pub, since I wanted to catch Garrett no. 32936 'Felsted Belle' having a final steam-up in the yard before being fully 'winterised'. Unfortunately not a very picturesque yard, but great to see two engines in steam. https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67551 https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67552 https://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pi...ictureid=67553 As ever, thanks to the owners for the entertainment. Happy New Year to one and all and here's looking forward to many more steamings in 2023. Bill. |
Thanks for recording the annual Boxing Day outing with friends and family. Started by my late father Geoffrey Wheeler in 1978, it’s been a regular occurrence excepting for boiler repairs and bad weather in the early 1980’s and Lock Down recently, this year would have been outing number 44
Thanks Bill, as you say, looking forward to the 2023 season! BW JW and family. ;-) |
Thanks for the photos and report
