Good to see some pictures of The Squire looking well. I did a fair few miles on it when Dave Freemantle owned it but hadn't heard anything of it since he sold it when he got Volunteer.

I wonder if it's still got the same square back roll on the steersman's side - or at least it alwys felt as if it was!

excelent day out, plenty to see , over 100 engines, and well laid out.

Best show of the year so far for me , first time I've laid eyes on the Duke Of York making it the highlight of the day .
Really good selection of steam exhibits especially the road loco' section overlooking the arena , this is how shows should be run in my opinion .
Well done to all involved thumbsup

Had a ride over there yesterday. Best rally I've visited in many years, absolutely spot on!

Excellent selection of engines, fantastic weather and, as said above, well laid out. Makes alot of other events look quite messy! Quite a few highlights for me including Duke of York, but I think the main one was seeing 'Wait and See' for the first time. I didn't take the camera as I wanted to spend more time looking with my naked eye rather than the lens for a change. I did take one or two pics on the phone, but nothing of quality worth posting or subjects different to above.

Long may this rally continuethumbsup

Brilliant weekend looking forward to next year already! Lovely weather and the crowds seemed to be fairly heavy!

Stuart, any chance of a copy of the picture of our Ruston, would like it to give to the lad whose on the footplate. I'll pm you my email.

Andy, I assume the guages on Gough are totally accurate, took us by complete surprise when the drum started spinning n the floor dropped that the needle shot to 300 amp! Really didn't think it was that demanding on start up though it made the belt squeal a bit!

yeah there accurate i know i didnt think it would have been that much, the belt squeeled more on the rotor than it did on the big wheel!

i was very proud of my Goughs performance though :)

Great weekend!

Cheers,

Andy.

As a member of the organising committee it is gratifying to see such positve comments. I will pass these on at our next meeting. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Thanks to all who supported the event.

According to posts at the fun-fairs.co.uk forum, there is a tender sale closing tomorrow (26th Aug) after which the new owner will be known (presumably). I guess it depends if the new owner(s) are going to travel it.

I wouldn't like to travel it alot if I bought it! Shame Howard is selling, but hope it goes to a good home where it'll be looked after.

This years Lincoln had to be the best and biggest so far that i've been to & I think i've been going for the last 10 years or so now!

Best of luck for next years show, looking forward to it already!

It does look like a lot of work doesn't it!

Last time I rode it was at Newcastle Town Moor in 19 hundred and frozen to death.

I must say that the rally rejuvenated my interest in rallies. A really good event.
