Looks like I got captured behind the Mac.
When did the Ransomes arrive??, it was certainly not there when I left late Saturday afternoon.

The Ramsomes came Sunday morning

That Mclaren looks a nice bit of kit.

MG 9th May 2009 06:14 PM

Sir John 10th May 2009 07:26 AM

Other than the obvious part name on the lid, who owns the RSJ and where does it live?

its a freelance model, the half a guy on the right is the owner/builder.

i believe its made up from a few bits of different engines.

Dave © 11th May 2009 09:12 AM

I think the current owner bought it as a pile of bits and put it back together

The Pirate 11th May 2009 11:36 AM

I don't think he did!!

ok, so he may have built it himself out of parts he may have bought.

The Pirate 11th May 2009 12:10 PM

Don't think so - Ray Preece the previous owner rebuilt the boiler ( fitted a new firebox etc.) and took it to Dorset 2007 I think, in a finished and running state.
It's always looked as it does now in preservation.

Dave © 11th May 2009 01:41 PM

I think the Pirate is talking about the full size Ramsons where as mugglesquop and myself were talking about the model that MG asked about earler in the thread.

that would make a lot more sense - i was wandering if you would actually bother rebuilding the firebox seperatly on a model ;)

My apologies - must read more carefully.
The freelance is owned by a guy from Bridgend, South Wales.
He purchased it as is a few years ago - knowing nothing about steam engines.
It's often described as a Burrell Road Loco!!
Single speed an' all.
Lister A stationary engine flywheel.
