Eddison living van large wheel wanted
3 Attachment(s)
I am looking for one cast wheel for my Eddison living van.
The wheel is 34.5” diameter and 4.25” wide. The axle hole is approx 2” One of mine is cracked and so before having it welded I thought I’d ask if anyone had one kicking about. Regards wayne |
Don’t weld it , Boiler makes stitch it.
|
if it were me, id fabricate one out of steel
|
We had cracked one on the museum van. I welded it up then machined the outside diam true and shrunk on a steel tyre. This seems to have improved thing somewhat.

Cast Iron Welding Services or Metalock.

That looks like our old van. The wheel should have a shrunk-on tyre like all the other wheels. The one that was on it was too thin and stretched. Make it at least 1/4" thick and probably thicker. Measure round the circumference and subtract at least a 1/4 before welding it up and then shrink it on like a cart tyre.

As yet I have done nothing with it, except sleep in it one night with my boys. I thoughts I’d see if anyone had a wheel kicking about, but no luck so a friend had suggested doing exactly what you mention. So that is the plan. The front wheels have the shrunk on tyres, but not on the rear wheels so we are going to do them both. All the best Wayne |
We tried shrinking on a 3/16th tire but it stretched under the rolling effect on the road and came loose - make sure the tire is thick enough !
