1/2 round bar
Hi All
Am final getting round to making the spud pan for my engine I need some 1/ 2 round bar for the beading think it is 1" wide, before I make it dose any one now were I can buy it from? Thanks Chris |
I am looking for some 5/8" for my half size. I am told architectural steel companies use it but I haven't found any yet (people that make gates and railings and 'stuff'). Smallest I have found on line so far is 1 1/2".

I spoken to my Steel supplier they offer a product they call handrail which is like a d section with small flats on the edges and they also offer a product called feather edge which is like the handrail but goes to a sharp Edge not too dissimilar to the beading round A Fowler tender Chris |

I bought some for my Fowler tender and extension from a closing dock yard - new/old stock. The chap told me they used to use it in the manufacture of barges. It was identical to the original Fowler edging except it was about 0.020" thinner at the fullest part.

If you need quadrant bar, rather than 180 degree bar, look for rubbing strip or rubbing band or keel strip, all terms for the same thing for use on boats. Certainly this suits Foden cab side sheets.

Sorry, that was wholly my misunderstanding. Cheers Carl. |
Hi
There seems to be some confusion as to whether I need 1 inch or 1 1/8" half round could another Marshall owner measure the half round on their spud pan for me please thanks Quest |
This photo was taken when I was commissioned to paint a picture of the engine by the owner at the time.
The beading can be seen clearly. I imagine a fair amount of work in building a brand new spud pan like this. Michael http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=51868 |
1" x 1/2" true half round steel section

This is the section I used when I did my spud pan - I have four 12 ft lengths in stock which is plenty for two pans but not enough for three. Just checking to see if there is any more hidden away anywhere. |
Try F.H. brundle. They do 30mm convex feather edge.
