Wanted for Sentinel S4.
 

I require the rear wheel bearing for my S4 Sentinel . Its a.Hoffmann RLS 23 1/2" F. Anyone know where i might get 1......

Can you give type of bearing (single ball, taper etc.) and all the key dimensions and I will search through my books.

The chances are the Hoffman Bearing Company will have one but it won't be cheap!! I recently a paid them £1450 for a split angular contact bearing, for a sump pump I was rebuilding for a local company. They had one in stock, in its original 1957 packaging.

5 1/2"ID.
1 3/8" thick.
21 roller bearings in brass cage. Not tapered.
Only 1 thrust side.

Have u rung Hoffman Chris there place only at honley used to go past regularly

Have you asked Goolds if they have any Chris? Or if there is an equivalent out there now? Just a thought.

Doubt goulds having 1 but will ask Justin. Looks like this has been run dry.

I have had bearings repaired before. Dismantled, raceways reground, and reassembled with oversize balls/rollers. Hoffman did this for me a few years ago on two obsolete deep groove ball bearings.

Hoffmans have an interesting historical connection with Ransomes, Simms & Jefferies.

I gathered that there was some sort oif tie up from the RHP (Ransome Hoffman & Pollard) title of around 50 years ago, any chance of the story? I presume that the ball bearing Ransome thrashing drums used (RHP) bearings? The site of the Chelmsford Plant is now part of Anglia Ruskin university.

Industrial Bearings at Shropshire use to supply bearings to Sentinels.I do not know if they are still going,but use to deal with them upto 15 years ago.When George got the Lion, they gave me a list of bearings for Sentinels and had chains for DGs in stock.Sorry I no longer have their number or contact details

We use them a lot very good.
