The people looking after the engine for the weekend are from Cornwall hence the flags. There was a joke made that they didn't bring any Cornish Pasties Ann |
My Delight is looking well smart now, top work.

|
yes he did Chris. think it was 88 he bought it off Frank Lythgoe. i helped rally it until he saw £ signs and decided to sell it...... we told him to lock it in garage and not to sell..... boy he was pissed off a few years later when he realised how much they were selling for.

Dear Arthur,
Thank you for details are their any other engines in preservation that were owned by Murphys. I know about Renoun and Repulse. Just being curious as I remember Murphys coming to Alnwick twice a year with either the Wallser or Bumper Cars and filling the market place they were powered by diesel generator with various side shows. Regards Peter. |
The rally was excellent this year as always, thanks to all involved for organising such a cracking weekend.
Its just over too quickly. |
Hi All,
Many thanks for the nice comments and great photo's. To add to the answer about the Cornish flags ..... the crew on this engine come up from Cornwall each year to look after the engine for the Davis family. We always make some witty banter that only people from Cornwall drive engines without flywheels as they can't be trusted with proper engines!!!! This year we told them off for going past the commentary box without delivering pasties. On the Sunday parade they stopped and delivered 2 pasties, presented nicely on a tray. You can imagine the banter that ensued. Myself and Alan Lloyd have a great time commentating at this rally and sincerely appreciate the positive feedback that we get. Many thanks Steve Dean |
