We had a fantastic weekend. Great weather and good friends.

Thanks for posting some pics. we were very lucky with the wheather on both days, kept the brass looking good on the engine i was working on.

Old Warden will be the 19th & 20th September 2009, three weekends after the August bank holiday as always

These two events have (with I think maybe 2 exceptions?) always been the same weekend. 'Tis a shame, but there it is. I doubt either will re-schedule somehow.

We usually only clash twice every 7 years, the rest of the time Barleylands falls the same weekend as Haddenham, which is always two weekends after the bank holiday.

I have just counted up the number of full size engines at barleylands to be 48 in total (the programme lists boats and half size engines amongst them to boost numbers).
Depsite the show growing in size (in ways of the other attractions) it apprears the steam section is rapidly shrinking as it was not too long ago they boosted 100 engines.

It seems that the show is now the Essex Country show rather than a steam rally and the steam section has now taken a back seat.

well done to the \goblands crew in getting the old Fowler / Burrell Plougher out too...the Wednesday night crew have done all of the boiler work themselves, the engine looked great!
