Singelton Steam Festvial

I saw quite a few TT's there today ! The weather stayed dry throughout the day, but the overnight rain cause some nice demonstration's and a bit of fun. Nice selection of engines from the rally scene. The President looked fabulous, it was the first time i saw it and my god what a good job they did on it. It was nice to see the comparison between The Great North and The President when they were parked side by side. All on all i wonderful show, which was packed with lots of people and some reasonable weather for once. The Ex Lillywhite collection was there, first time with them all together, Pictures to follow

A few, probably to many I took at end of Sunday when I arrived, as usual late.
Quality not that good, new camera, cheep and it shows! Quite a few of the Lilly White collection showing the ravages of sea air,
Cheers Rog

I popped in on Saturday, nice little do and good to see folk after quite a while.

The President sure is a nice bit of kit, and that Q class Marshall is a VERY nice machine, I am more than slightly envious!

After growing up near to Lillywhite's and hearing the legend of these engines it was a real pleasure to see them up close and especially see the 'Q' in steam. Well done guys thumbsup

I went down mainly to see the Lillywhite engines and it was well worth it.

Lovely setting for a rally, great for pictures, shame the sun went in as soon as I arrived.

Not sure I have ever seen one engine lift another, see attached picture!

Lots more pictures on SS soon, hopefully before GDSF.

Yes I was lucky and there wasn't many people about. I've never seen an engine wood sawing in such an authentic environment before.

David is absolutely right and here's a picture of the logs being handled using the musuem's newly restored yard crane too.

minicooper 19th August 2008 11:19 AM

An excellent event as mentioned in other posts, good to see the engines neatly spaced out and clutter free.
One unusual item that drew great interest was the Hudspith steam gramophone, The steam exhausts through the centre of the sound horn.

Singleton is also a great venue for miniatures. Since my last visit even more of the woodland paths are wheel chair accessible which make them ideal scale road for my miniature :D

I'm sure I remember the commentator say it was parafin & petrol powered!

All I did was offer a ride to a kid that was fascinated with my engine. This was at one thirty. After that a queue spontaneously formed and I didn't stop until quarter to five when I dropped my fire to go home.

Engines are for driving not polishing - I enjoyed putting my engine through it's paces. Over the weekend I covered 23 miles, climbed loads of hills and explored all the paths. Brilliant event; thank you Michel for letting me in at short notice.

Looks like your having fun though Julia. Makes me even more determined to get mine finished.
