A&P 8796 is being low loaded tomorrow, Andy.

Excellent event
My first visit to the Weald of Kent rally. Excellent venue - large open spaces where engines were trundling around. Two Burrell Scenics - No 1. and Winston Churchill side by side. Huge Ottemeyer Ploughing engine v impressive. Recommend for next year.

Well done to Andy for his stewardship of the miniatures and of course a big thanks for Bill for putting it on. A really excellent weekend (weather must have been booked specially!). Plenty of room to mooch around, no sign of men in yellow jackets ordering people about, fantastic parade of engines in the ring, plenty of variety of stuff from tractors to military vehicles to steam. Everyone I spoke to thought it was fantastic. For a rally only in its second year the number and variety of exhibits was incredible - almost forgot to mention the planes! Sadly not knowing anything about them I can't really speak about them other than they were very shiny and the opportunity to walk round them up close for a good look on the ground was great.
Sorry no pictures, was too busy playing with the engine, did take a little video on my mini camera but not down loaded it yet to see how it came out! Paul. |
A short video of the line up... https://youtu.be/gFs6GyUbmbE

Yep it was a truly great event and for once right on our doorstep. Loved the guy with the 'miniature' who thought p*ssing off with TWENTY bags of coal so that many of us didn't actually have any to even light up with. Suffice to say there were many words most of them rude....
|
Who the heck was that? The allowance of 1 bag of coal per inch of scale was very generous. Great rally as mentioned already, definitely on the calendar for next year.
|
There was a major rumpus but the cheeky b*stard stuck it out for the weekend despite several confrontations and one out and out threat (not by me I hasten to add). He actually had the audacity to complain to the marshall that people were 'nicking' his coal as I and several others went over and helped ourselves. he still left the showground on sunday with 14 bags stuffed in his van.
Couldn't make it up... wnaker |

Well the piles of dead bodies caused through Toylander / electric steam waggon mishaps got cleared up fairly promptly and the bloodshed was hosed down courtesy of Andy Mills so no lasting damage or evidence of carnage...
I only saw the damn thing move a few times on both Saturday and Sunday so it must burn hell of a lot of coal! I did like it when he barricaded himself in at the end of the miniature line so that nobody else could 'nick' HIS coal. Andy also said he had threatened to call the police because of the ongoing thefts. Lets hope its the ones that investigated my missing Ruston! |
An interesting threat as it was him that was nicking coal... Dear Plod... The coal I've nicked is being reclaimed by those only taking coal within their rightful allowance... Looked like the sort that might like wearing handcuffs though !

Hi Tony, Which was your engine? You should have come up and said hello! The half sized landrover was driven by my hooligan of an eight year old who insists on wearing his top hat at shows (and sometimes school). he is a very competent driver and steers well clear of people and if in doubt will stop. Barry lads are a bit older but are likewise careful. All of them are supervised though as where Liam was I was close behind. The showground was big enough for him to travel around a bit and he actually followed me in the ring right behind the Garrett. He knackered the batteries by midday sunday but there was another one that was darker in colour also there and that took a turn in the ring on Sunday.
The bloke was a prize knob who seemed to rub everyone up the wrong way on every level. You should have got off and told hom where to shove his tryke. You wouldn't have been the first that weekend... or second or even third. |
No.1 and Winston Churchill
Nice surprise to see two Burrell Scenics in the same place! Chance to compare the differences...http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=25726
|
Full marks. Excellent.
|
I know who you mean now, he was the pratt that turned up late to the drivers briefing Saturday morning and then let his safeties lift making a racket.
|
Just so that no one gets the wrong impression ....
Sufficient coal was supplied to all Miniatures. The allocation per miniature was very generious and I like many others chose not to take my full allocation. When the show ended there was a near full pallet of unclaimed coal at the head of the miniature section. The coal was even changed to a different brand at the request of some owners... Service above and beyond! Excellent rally, ample coal to steam around all day, no unnecessary restrictions ... Well done. |
Absolutely correct. It was a fantastic weekend in a stunning location. No criticism is aimed at the organisers or marshalls who were 1st class. Just unbelievable somebody would choose to abuse it
|
Agreed... Organisation and marshalling first class !
|
May I suggest that this person who purloined an excessive amount of coal as his ''right'', be blacklisted from all rallies in the future. You all seem to know who he is and so it should not be difficult to alert other rally organisers about his misdeeds Marvelous innit, you always seem to get one at every rally????

Excellent show, good to see movement of engines in all sizes around the field without too much his-viz. Most enjoyable rally well worth my visit from East Anglia. Well done and best wishes to all organizers and land owner, excellent site made for easy comfortable walking.

4" Foster down the end near RichardHead. Due to a few health problems I'm not able to camp overnight, so arrived on Saturday to hear of RichardHead hoarding all the coal and then on Sunday morning hearing him whinge that somebody had nicked 5 bags overnight, I half expected to find all "his" coal gone and some washing up liquid left somewhere by mistake;) |
Just to add to the praise mentioned so far...
Sadly we couldn't bring the Foden along as its out of action at the moment having a new boiler, that said, I brought along our smallest vehicle (and oldest if you exclude the horse drawn) in our fleet, a 1926 Bullnose Travellers Van. Anyway, over the past 20 years, I've gone to loads of events in the UK with old vehicles, and I can honestly say, I thought this show was right up there as one of the best, which considering its in its second year is a massive achievement to all those involved. Roll on next years event! Thank you Bill and the team for hosting a great event. |
I got you. You were struggling to balance the water container and drive off from the tap?

I'm not going to put on here the details other than if it had been my misses I would have decked him. I won't say any more, He certainly upset a LOT of people |
This guy is at the bluebell railway over this weekend .This is how cheeky he was on friday he is even ask a guy with a full size if he could get some coal and how much he was getting payed. Not a lot of people like this guy on the rally seen after speaking to people.

A brilliant rally! We attended with Victoria last year, unfortunately time was not on our side this year and we weren't able to bring Victoria. However Bill asked me to look after his Burrell for the weekend and a brilliant weekend it was too! With the help of Tom (Burrell8) and Andy (Mutley) we certainly covered some miles on 2386 and Distraction!
I didn't take many pictures but here are a few of 2386! https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...66106606_o.jpg https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...22&oe=56826136 https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...4f&oe=568193A3 https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...69&oe=5647432B |
