Banbury Rally?

Any news on this, the Facebook page has stated that things are up in the air. Any more recent news?

I was looking forward to taking the roller.

Thanks

HStannard 26th February 2015 06:13 PM

I've had my entry form for the miniature line up so it should be going ahead.

s2steamy 26th February 2015 07:45 PM

Yes, I have posted my entry form back for the miniature section, nice rally last year.

steaming-crawley 27th February 2015 07:36 AM

I have sent mine back too cant wait this is a very good rally

Bosiboz 27th February 2015 07:44 AM

There appears to be 2 different Banbury rallies. There has been a breakaway group from Banbury Steam Society who have set up Banbury Rally Ltd who say they are going to run a rally on a different date to Banbury Steam Society:

Banbury Steam Society were appealing for volunteers to help run their rally in January -

This is why I thought I would ask on here, seeing if there was any more news. I have sent an email but I have had no reply. I might give them a ring to see if they can confirm.

I was looking forward to going to this one, hope it does go ahead.

FosterGP6NHP 27th February 2015 06:58 PM

Hmm, no form arrived here as far as I know. Not good as I have supported Banbury for iirc over 20yrs.

Trevor 2 27th February 2015 08:28 PM

Just got mine from Banbury at Bloxham.
I thought it very good last year, so will probably go to that one.
The other one has to do something to catch up.

Steam Extravaganza 2nd March 2015 07:23 AM

I'm confused. Which is which?

I offered help, said all sections had leaders and were full.

weston05 2nd March 2015 10:18 AM

Ditto

Still have no Idea what's actually going on, nor can I get hold of anyone. Has anybody actually spoken to someone from the Bloxham event? I'm going to leave a message on the FB page and see what comes back.

s2steamy 4th March 2015 07:46 PM

I contacted them through Facebook, they asked for my address and sent entry form for Banbury rally @ Bloxham.

Steve, that's the spin off rally run by Nick & Joel which does not even show any dates.
Also doing a Google for Banbury Steam Society brings up just the above rally.

It looks like the field I went to last year, they sent me an entry form for this year (27th and 28th June) so am going back, Was ok last year at same site?

Trevor 2 15th March 2015 02:18 PM

I took the 1/2 scale last year and thought it one of the better rallies.

Banbury Rally is back for 2015

Hi,

Not sure you've had a response from the promoter, but Banbury Rally will be going ahead this year.

The festival has previously been promoted by an external colleague and has now been taken over by the sole owner and co-organiser for this year's event - back to it's roots!

So the event can really get back on its feet, the organisers are pushing customers to purchase their tickets online as this will give them an idea on how many people will be attending and give flexibility on marketing and growth.

For tickets, please click this link

Any questions, email me on kerry.newell@theticketsellers.co.uk or call 0121 472 6688

Thanks!

On their website, the steam section leader is marked up as 'Vacant'... Not a good sign.

I'm not connected in any way to the show/society or whatever, just that I spent some splendid weekends there in the past.

Looking at the various links etc as posted below, its not very clear whats going on.

We have www.http://banbury-rally.co.uk/ which seems to be the Society run, which is what the show I used to attend was run by. The post by 'Kerry' on http://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/ti...iontalk2010515. refers to the Society, yet links to the following page www.http://banburyrally.com/, which is different, and seemingly not the society page.

Very odd.

Mr B 20th May 2015 10:08 AM

Looks fairly clear on closer inspection

.co.uk is the real McCoy and .com doesn't appear to be up and running as yet

8_10 Brass Cleaner 20th May 2015 10:16 AM

Then perhaps it would be useful if 'Kerry' were to confirm that the tickets she sells are for the event advertised by the Society?.

Just looking at the prices quoted on both sites, they are not consistent.

Mr B 20th May 2015 10:19 AM

Her link takes you the the Banbury Steam Society Bloxham Rally, tickets 27th and 28th June.

The 'new' event has no dates as yet and isn't run by the society

Yes, I can see that the link says that it is the Society run event with the same dates as the society page. But I could find no info on venue. And the ticket prices are different. Its not as if pre booked tickets are cheaper either!.

Yet at the bottom of the same page is the link to banburyrally.com site. Which is the website that has no dates or venue, or indeed very much at all. But refers to ''Banbury Rally Ltd''

Sot as clear as it seems

FosterGP6NHP 29th May 2015 02:27 PM

I finally got an entry form for the society rally, it took 3 months from post office franking to dropping thro the letterbox! Anyway filled in and returned and passes came almost by return.
