What a brilliant day. Weather was fantastic. Had a lovely trundle out, I thing driving through a Ford in the road is a first for me (No it wasn't a Ford Fiesta) haha.
I noticed the Savage Steam Yaught centre engine didn't arrive back with the same engine it left with ;) *secret |
Other commitments meant I had to miss this. Thanks for the pictures, looking forward to loads more!
|
Thanks for the brilliant pictures - was helping to run an event elsewhere.
One question why was (presumably) Alan Rundle trying to hide in the firebox of his engine, had it all got a bit much for him :D |
Some lovely light with the sun low in the sky.
...and Cinders looking lovely and shiny out in the open. :) |
It was good to see some of the younger generation of enginemen driving engines so well out on the road.
Had an absolutely fantastic day out and caught up with many old friends. Well done to all concerned for organising such a great event. Jim |
It was indeed an amazing day. I had a great time taking my engine round. Such an impressive line up at the lunchtime stop of the red route.

Here are the minatures I caught up with - impressive to see a couple of the smaller ones on the middle route!

Great photo's everyone, thanks
Arthur |
Thank you David and Ian for such a great set of photos. I was so disappointed that my chemotherapy sessions (most recent on Friday) meant that I had to cancel my planned attendance. These photos have made up a little for what I missed. So good to see the West Country well represented too!
|
Fantastic pictures of what looks to have been a fantastic event! The road train behind Ex-Mayor looks great, but the more I see of Gigantic, the more I want!!! :D
|
A few photographs of mine, difficult to take many photographs and be crewing an engine; a delightful dilemma.

Nice new canopy on Blackjack.. is Mr Gregory trying to make a race of it ;)
|
Great photos - most of my photos are members of Pedlers crew eating cake!
|
Many thanks to BSEPS / NTET for the hosting and organisation of the 60th Anniversary road run, and to engine owners and crews in making it a memorable occasion for all.

Here's a few of mine.
I only got to see a fraction of all the engines there.. Click on the thimbnails to see a larger version of the photos.

To answer the earlier question I have 141 full size logged.
First of my video clips now uploaded. Gigantic leaving Beds. Growers http://youtu.be/4t1ztNZ68QQ Perseverance the Second & Renown arriving at Beds. Growers http://youtu.be/iLG61RgST0I Ian |
What a great day, glad to see a couple of photos in this lot of my Garrett, and me looking decidedly oil and soot covered at the end of the run! thanks guys. a quick work out, i averaged about 4 mph over the 21 miles including oil/water stops but not pub stops. So many engine i wanted to see, just didnt get around them!
Matt |
Quite impressed also at the amount of engines roading away on Sunday to various destinations, including at least two engines & the Foden bus through London, Gigantic in the middle of the night,

One from the long route, it was rather lonely out there in the morning, but credit to the lads on the McLaren road loco who did the 51 mile route, the only engine to do so. We passed them with about 15 miles to go to the lunch stop and they were arriving just as we were getting ready to leave. A good effort.
|
Did other ploughing engines do the 28mile route?
We saw only a few engines as we went around. Charlie D |

Great day just as a spectator. Took some video and photos which can be found on the link. Shot on mobile so quality not on a par with the above but people may find interesting. |
A different perspective on the day, a few photo's from the seat of a participant.

I'll try and get a few of my photos up when I get chance. Has anyone got any video from the few hills that we encountered? The one up through the trees must have made for brilliant viewing, would love to see it. George. |
Yes a brilliant day, even for us public! Wonderful atmosphere everywhere I went. I smiled as I was driving away along one of the routes & the tarmac was all white as so many metal wheels had been over it.
One issue which has not been addressed was the appalling traffic jam caused by the parking of a couple of rollers outside a pub on the narrowest of roads, barely a hundred yards from the gate. This delayed the return of many engines by a considerable amount, as well as countless disgruntled motorists. One angry driver, after sitting for maybe 20 mins was walking around asking people whether there was a marshal around which clearly there wasn't. By the time I left at about 5.45 there was a long queue of engines one way & a long queue of cars the other, both unable to get through. I appreciate that this event took a massive amount of organisation but this isolated but protracted event was a thing which could have easily been avoided. I videoed every engine I saw but thought maybe people would find it boring if I posted it all! If anyone has a specific request then I'm happy to sort it if I have it. |
Did anyone get a picture or video of my engine crossing the ford at Sutton. It was great fun!

Many thanks for filling us up with water. |
Some really nice loads behind a few engines too, Ex Mayor with the Yachts , & the two recently restored traction wagons behind the Burrell, & some others. Plus I think that brown Clayton is my new favouritist engine!
