Can anyone confirm if it's a 3 or 2 day event? As others have said the pass's indicate it's 2 days but the adverts are for 3?

Anyone been to this rally before? do they supply coal or do we take our own? could not find any info on the web site or booking form.

Aveling8727 5th May 2014 02:21 PM

They supply coal. Does anybody know if the Standard Gauge Railway will be running?

It was running last year but you need to book early for a ride.

Last year they were running an open wagon and a brake van. With a 1 in 14 gradient to contend with I doubt the loco could manage more safely, so space is limited.

Just seen the 'Countryfile' weather forecast. I don't want to say it's looking good, but.......................................:)

See y'all there!

Coal will be loaded and on its way there in the morning:D

Thecoalman 12th May 2014 03:40 PM

Last year if you wanted to go on the Railway you had to buy timed tickets up the top near the Big Top.

We have the Tasker booked in for its first outing in many years. However, the garage that's supposed to be MOTing our low loader haven't got their act together. So, were looking for someone with a low loader who can move the Tasker from North Hampshire to Fawley Hill and back. Happy to cover all reasonable cost, disbursements etc.

If you can help, please PM me or give me a call 07974 960 292

To confirm on behalf of Lady Judy

"Definitely only open to the public on 17/18th - Saturday and Sunday. Bar etc open Friday evening for those who are on site and our volunteers are talking of running a few trains for the traction boys"

She apologies for any confusion of a 3 day show

We're arriving Thursday too.

I phoned a week or two ago to check if this would be OK and the nice lady in the office, Dilys?, said it would be fine.

Looks like Friday night might be party night!

:D

Sounds like a good plan to me

When I was a kid I was friendly with a bloke who owned a Fowell, Gordon Wells, is he still around? He told me that best part of steam events is when the public have gone home. (Or perhaps in Fawley's case arrived)
How true he was.

BTW, and off topic. My tutor at university was called Fowell. On our first meeting I said "Oh, as in the traction engines". "No" he replied "that's Fowler."
Not really tactful to correct someone about their surname having just met, is it!

Maybe I'm wrong, but surely:
No public means no appearance money.
No public means no free coal.
No public means no rally.

Stef.

I last saw Gordon about 2-3 years ago when I went with Paul Jarman from Beamish to go and look at his loco in Cambridgeshire, others on here will know him better.
