From what I have heard from somebody involved with another big Yorkshire rally, the committee of that rally have been informed by North Yorkshire Police that after all the trobule over the last several years, they will not allow Pickering to go ahead, or for a certain individual involved with Pickering to hold any steam event in North Yorkshire.

Never met and do not know any of the orginisers shame if the rally stops was a good venue and rally.
ideal location for people in NE that cannot afford the time/money to travel to other large rallys.

jupiter1957 17th March 2014 03:46 PM

Don't you think it's weird that they are advertising a rally with no venue? They (whoever they are) are pushing camping and caravanning at this rally for between £50 and £80 for the weekend, BUT still NO venue. I hope nobody sends any money. If I'm paying that amount of money I want to know the venue where I'm going to be staying even more so if i'm paying up front.

Steamhead21 17th March 2014 06:56 PM

although I used to be a regular camper at pickering I totally agree. would not send any money.
the showfeild web site states their is no event there pickering rally weekend ??

mikem 20th March 2014 12:05 PM

The website has been updated, but there is still no info on the location. Given the usual shenanigans with this rally, something dodgy seems to be afoot.

jamiepreston 20th March 2014 02:23 PM

Some exhibitors have been told where the rally field is going to be. I am not in a position to reveal it but I know where it is and that it is defiantly going to be on

You have not been invited then?
If you had, you would know where the field is.

steamy1 20th March 2014 09:17 PM

No general public no money for Coal !

Steamhead21 21st March 2014 06:26 AM

Cannot understand why the new venue is a secret ?? as previously stated public & traders need to know site ??
Does one need security clearence ??
different e-mail adress now do we have a new orginiser as well ??

notyalc 21st March 2014 06:42 AM

I'm sure that if you can find Pickering at the appropriate time, you will be able to find the field......

General public are still being asked to book camping with no actual venue disclosed. Old glory adverts in yellow boxes on a couple of pages. Why does it have to remain secret anyhow???

bjwlancashire 21st March 2014 01:44 PM

Just looked at the new advert in the link from Tez and the Steam Yachts are being advertised so somebody better tell me where I am going or no one will get a ride :D

jupiter1957 25th March 2014 05:58 PM

Do what I'm going to do and that is steer clear of the whole shabang. If they don't want to tell me where I'm supposed to be going then I'll stay away. There's plenty of other places to go and they don't mind telling you where the venue is.

craigctt 10th April 2014 08:15 PM

Any chance of the £350 I was promised in 2009 ?. I think not.

UPDATE:
I have just had confirmation from Showground staff (received an email reply 28th June) that the Event is being held at the Showground.

Quote:

Hi Antony

Thank you for your email, yes the traction engine rally is now being held on the Showground in August.

Kind regards

Dawn Bruton
This follows from the showground website specifically stating earlier this year that the event was not being held there, although this has now been updated to state it is being held there.
I also had heard from a family acquaintance who exhibits there that it was being moved to a new location for this year. He did tell us exactly where it was going to be, but I cannot remember where now.
Me thinks they were looking for a different location but couldn't find a suitable one.
