That is an Alternator not a Dynamo.

Traction world must do them for their engines

Last time i asked them it was £1k and another minature owner said this year that they had been told £1200.

Doubtful. A message to the seller will probably clear it up though, most likely a 110v DC dynamo though.

The listing describes it as an Alternator.

It looks like the one I have on my 4" Burrell showmans 110v dc dynamo.

Currently awaiting a reply from the vendor to clarify alternator or dynamo.

FosterGP6NHP 5th October 2013 07:04 PM

Reply came to confirm that it is an alternator not a dynamo.

Why do you want a dynamo? Alternators will charge in either direction and are self regulating. Mounting a 12v one in a old fashioned electric motor case looks just the job IMHO. :D

But they need a power supply to exite them and if the output came disconnected for any reason when running the result would be the smoke genie escaping.
