Marshall blowdown valves required
Hi,
At the last boiler inspection I was asked to reinstate the blowdown valve on my Marshall S-type traction engine. I am not the only Marshall owner who requires a new blowdown valve, I know at least one other person that needs one. Anyone who has the pattern and could cast the part (or has second hand Marshall parts) please contact me. Thanks Rich Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2 |
I know someone with a pattern i will give them a call; I know of 3 other engines that need that part.
|
I think I have a running count of at least 5 engines wanting this now (possibly as many as 8 if everyone knows of different engines). Any help you can provide is appreciated.

Hi I all so need a blow down, would be interested I a casting if your getting a few dun!
thanks Chris |
Try James Cummins at Universal steam engineering.
|
James was talking of making some when I spoke to him at Dorset.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have emailed and asked if they can produce the blowdown valve and enquired about any benefit for all of us if multiples are requested.
Will keep you updated with the answer. Rich |
I have a number of contacts now and am pursuing all of them!
If we know how many engines actually require new blowdown valves it will help us all. The ones I am sure of so far are: 76963 (Mine) 34151 ("Jimmie B", belonging to Nick Middleton) Please PM me with details of other engines and I will keep track of them. Also, if I can get someone to cast these, please let me know if you are interested in trying to do this a group order or if you would rather me send you the details and sort it out individually. Thanks Rich |
Hi there,
We are looking for one for our marshall roller no 75408, so would be interested if this venture goes ahead. Looking forward to hearing from you Angie |

Universal Steam (James Cummins) work in corporation with HSS and we are already looking at extending the range of Blowdown Valves that we offer together with him. We will produce the pattern and have these on offer. If interested parties care to contact me, when we have costed this item together with James we will publish a cost. A Marshall Blowdown Valve, will be in our new catalogue, due out early next year.

Just an update. The patterns for the Marshall Blowdown valve are nearly complete and we hope to have samples manufactured and for sale before the end of the year, certainly over the winter. I will publish on here when we have something to show off.

Just to report back. We are about to order castings from the Foundry for the Standard Marshall Blowdown Valve. The finished product will include the correct pattern steel handle. The flange will come undrilled. As all our blowdown valves they come with material and hydraulic test certificate.
There maybe some saving in the overall price based on savings made on machining time and set up. This blowdown valve involves more work than any of our current ones we have available, so we expect them to sell for around £625 + VAT each, but will pass on any savings we can from the initial batch. If anyone is interested, please contact me via PM or call on 07785 258169 SG |
Our Marshall Blowdown Valves are now finished and available from stock (limited) or to order. £620 + VAT. Graphoil Sleeve Packed

Very good Stuart, that looks to be a first class job.

Added another photo to illustrate the size of the valve. It's impressive!
