Good turn out of engines and nice weather
Lovely Marshall living van was present http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12437 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12438 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12439 Hockley Heath roller looked good complete with rubber booties http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12440 I presume this bit of kit is for applying hydraulic braking system of an attached trailer http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12441 |
The T 3 belongs to Paul Atkins who is a member of Hockley Heath and is sign written just to advertise the club. The Hockley T3 is at Colin Hatch's having a new box and barrel etc.
You are correct in that the hydraulic pump is for a trailer and provides excellent braking! www.hockleyheathsteam.org.uk |
What a lovely van, very unusual roof light, and with all it's plates of owners and maker's. Very nicely done, and all his screw heads align up, the same way, a true craftsman.

Anyway talking of trouble makers and miscreants were in attendance - ie the Irresponsibles and Reprehensibles who insist on driving engines on the road clogging up the Queen's Highway http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12450 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12451 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12452 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12453 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12454 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12455 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12456 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12457 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12458 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12459 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12460 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12461 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12462 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12463 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12465 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12466 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12467 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12468 |
The big boys were not the only one playing out on the road and the rally field, a couple of us miniature owners were out too, albeit slightly later than the big boys to avoid getting squashed. There were still a couple of big uns left at the pub as you will see in one picture. It was our first time attending Banbury and we were there as part of the Steam Traction World gathering and it was only Blackbeard's second formal event in steam.
There was an interesting moment as we were on the climb heading to the pub when one traction engine coming the other way back from the pub was suddenly being overtaken by another one - heading straight for us  Who was that engine driver? ;) Great event especially with the weather being so kind, scorchio!! http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12473 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12474 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12480 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12475 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12477 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12476 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12478 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12482 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12486 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12483 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12488 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12487 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12484 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12485 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12490 |
This unusual miniature Garrett crane engine was in attendance
http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12502 Good to see the girls taking charge http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12503 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=12504 |
Having driven a T3 roller on the road with steel wheels (which was very nice indeed), I guess one with rubbered wheels would be an absolute pleasure to drive?
|
It is a pleasure to drive, you don't have to shout at each other, you can have a normal conversation and the ride is soooo much better.
The steering is a little heavier but not overly so, but now you hear every sound from the motion you couldn't before! If you road a lot it is well worth doing. |
The pub run was kept quiet as the scratch built minatures in the other field did not know of it.
