Battlefield Line - Miniature Traction Engine Weekend 2014 - April 26th/27th

Following on from the popular first event a month ago, I am organising a repeat event for April 26th/27th 2014. This is the Battlefield Line's Miniature Traction Engine Weekend. This year we had 24 miniature engines which we hope to improve upon even more in 2014. We welcome any engine in any scale and try to promote a friendly weekend in Leicestershire. PM me for more details. I am very interested in welcoming more engines to Market Bosworth Station and in particular working displays such as miniature threshing and miniature wood-sawing where possible. I would love to hear from anybody and thank you for reading :)

If you happen to be passing that weekend, please nip in, have a cuppa' and say hello!

For entry to Market Bosworth only in order to see the event, prices are Adult £4 and Child £2. These gate prices are refundable against the price of a steam train travel ticket for our 10-mile round trip. The trains that weekend should be hauled by the beautiful GWR 3803. Travel tickets are Adult £10, Child £6 and OAP £8. If you buy a travel ticket you see the event for free! Why not travel to the event from Shackerstone or Shenton and make a day of it!

PS guys I have like 1 maybe 2 engine spaces left for this event if anyone wants a quiet but very steamy (ooo er!) weekend in Leicestershire. Engines are paid £10 a day steaming fee, all the tea/coffee you can drink, some coal and of course the exhibitors have the special train Saturday night. PM for details. www.battlefieldline.co.uk

All the Best and I look forward to welcoming all of our exhibitors to Market Bosworth in April

It is my pleasure to announce that we have arranged the visit of "Mary Marshall" for the weekend. She will be joining "Louise" as the centrepiece full size engines. "Mary Marshall" is a Marshall General Purpose engine, built in 1929 as No84679. We are so thankful to the owners of the engine at Statfold Barn for allowing "Mary" to join us for the weekend at short notice and we are sure that she will be popular. Thank you

Final Update

Hi everyone. Well, only 10 days to go until MTEW at Market Bosworth Station on the Battlefield Line. All I can say is please support us if you can. This is one of those little events that needs your support to get off the ground. I look forward to welcoming all of our valued exhibitors to the weekend and hope that we will see some TT members there! :)

For those interested in visiting the event, Gate Tickets are £4 Adult and £2 Child for Market Bosworth only. You can exchange your Gate Ticket for a Steam Train Ticket and the price will be reduced from the latter. Steam train tickets are frozen at the norm this weekend so if you ride on the train from either Shackerstone or Shenton behind GWR 2-8-0 No3803 then you see the MTEW event for free! :)

Thanks everyone for all the support with exhibitors joining us and I look forward to seeing everyone over the weekend. Please bring sun!

Thanks guys

 Unfortunately I think the sun has been double booked for the weekend. The weather cannot (typically!) make its mind up so sunny spells between light showers is probably my best bet! But, you never know...inpromptu heatwave?!:)

rick 23rd April 2014 07:36 AM

Fingers crossed the sun will come out. Looking forward to my first rally of the year.

Fingers crossed Rick! Looking forward to seeing all of the engines at Market Bosworth again. All dry on the steam special Saturday night! All the best, Sam

MBmtew 23rd April 2014 10:29 AM

Finally, as a very last update, the owner of Aveling & Porter "Blue Circle" has kindly offered to steam her up for the weekend and steam her to Market Bosworth. The engine will be in steam during the weekend, ticking over in the siding at Market Bosworth for photographs :) Her loving owner will also be on hand to answer any questions about this unique rail-loco. The 2-2-0 Single worked for "Blue Circle Cement". For more info see here...

http://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bl...ue_circle.html

"Blue Circle" will join Marshall Gen Purpose Engine "Mary" and Aveling & Porter Roller "Louise" (formerly "Stortford Roll") as the three full size "road" (except "BC"!) engines, amongst some 35 miniatures. Cheers guys :)

Sam,

Are there going to be any trade stands at this event? I'm thinking of a model engineering nature - I need various bits and pieces including materials (brass) and nuts and bolts.

Thanks in anticipation,

Michael

Hi Gordon. My apologies but I'm afraid we do not have trade stands as yet. I did make some enquiries but didn't manage to nail anything down this year. Sorry about that. Regards, Sam

Gordon Bennett 24th April 2014 08:23 AM

Sam,

No problem - just wondered how much money to bring!!! Hopefully I will still visit the event, taking into consideration the weather and my illness.

Michael

Hi Michael. We shall look forward to hopefully seeing you over the weekend.

Tim Watson 27th April 2014 09:34 PM

Had an excellent time at Sam's rally at Market Bosworth, well worth attending and good to see some really smart engines.
Thanks for a super weekend Sam: you did us proud!
