I would just like to thank Charlie for inviting us to a superb event. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. A good atmosphere, nice people, brilliant weather and not to much Hi Viz H&S. Thankyou again.

garrett4cd 6th May 2013 09:11 PM

I would like to echo the above, many thanks to Charlie. Had a cracking weekend with the Garrett, and the 6", including two thoroughly enjoyable road runs, the view when we got to Ham Hill was stunning, with lots of laughs along the way, including a little bit of night driving on the way back which was good. All in all a brilliant weekend!

Ransome 21570 6th May 2013 10:08 PM

Was a very good weekend at Abbey Hill with the Loader engines, as mentioned already a huge thanks must go to the organisers, especially Charlie. Was a good engine turnout and good to see a few new engines to the rally as well.

Thanks Charlie and the rest of the Abbey Hill team, had a great weekend, brilliant sunshine, good company and what a way to start the rally season.

Steam Extravaganza 7th May 2013 07:17 AM

First time at a rally for 'The Devster', and despite a few dribbles here and there seemed to behave very well. A great time was had by all. Good to catch up with Charlie and JR as well.

Nice job by all.

It looks like one thats either on holidays from or has been bought out of Eire.

D2(?) roller or convertable with wheels off a very old traction.

No Hedd , a DH or more likely a DNB or DNC .

Looking around it Bob its a D2 compound. A later one though. The only resemblems of a DH, DNB or DNC is the flywheel. The brake which is not all there is on the 3rd shaft and the rear hitch is high on the tender, just like our D2. I looked around it all weekend and and I'm sure it is a D2. The owner is not sure about its history or its model. It's also on slide bars and not trunk guides.

Its a D2 14332, sister engine to the D2 that was round here for many years with Dick Woolley, Don Pritchard and Ken Watkins.

Not had time till now to get on TT so better late then never
A huge thanks to Charlie for a brill weekend at a new rally for us .
Craig and Roger went down with the engine on Thursday night but I couldn't get down till the sat.
As we ' Young Scottie' and I pulled though the gates we were met by a very friendly lady who checked we had a ticket and knew where we needed to go , she and the others on the gate made us feel very welcome ,as tho we had been many times before , I knew then it would be a good weekend.
The rally is what I call a good old fashion steam rally , something there to please all age groups and a bit of something for everyone , Well done to all who worked hard to put the show together and you couldn't have planed the weather any better.

The only bad thing to happen was when I got to the engine on Monday morning , well mid morning , none of the crew where there and as we needed to be in the ring at the earlier time of 12 , I thought I'd best clean the tubes etc and get her lit, I mean how hard could it be , I've watched it done for years now as I've been polishing the brass and paint work. So I did the tubes , that was easy, closing the smoke box door was harder and another story ha ha , emptied the ash pan , checked she was oiled up and had a go at lighting the fire. She normally takes about two hrs to get to pressure ( well she is a Fowler) , anyway within 40 mins she was creeping up to 40 psi and getting higher , by this time everyone's down and we where in the ring by 12.15 when the others engines went in.
Only problem now , Craig who doesn't do mornings , as anyone who knows him will say and all the crew have said I'll have to start doing the lighting up now cause they know I can do it , so just given myself more work , bang goes my holiday ha ha.

We hope you will invite us again next year and thanks again for a great weekend.

craigctt 9th May 2013 09:30 PM

Darling, you have just got yourself another job................ Now you only need to take your HGV test and I can sit at home until the last minute, then drive to the rally in the Rangey and meet you all there..........Ah bliss.
