Great Northern Steam Fair - 14 April 2013
 

I visited the Great Northern Steam Fair today at Beamish which is a long trip for me (long trip for most people!) It is the first time I have visited Beamish.

The dull conditions put pay to any exceptional photographs which I have seen other people produce in previous years but I had a good time watching the engines circulate and talking to numerous TT members.

I went to Steam Plough Club meeting on Saturday with plenty of accompanying steam, so I will post a selection of pics taken there later.

David, I havent seen that Aveling Barford before, has it only got one coal tank?

Had a brilliant day on Saturday at Great Northern Steam Fair. Plenty of super engine there, enjoyed watching Duke of York in the Pit Village. In fact enjoyed everything. Super Super day :) :)

Had a superb day there on Friday enjoyed the tour of behind the scenes in the tram shed.
Beamish has changed since I was last their.
Nice to see 3315 in steam

Good to see the Big Mac. Love the name plate on the tool box.

Me driving and Mine Explorer sitting on the bank right at the end, nice bit of therapy after the lack of movement with the big roller due to our bearing problem.

It looks like a good time was had by all - lovely images

wish I had been there, but I was in the TopLeftHandCorner of Wales, with a side trip to Nant Gwernol, visiting me 94 yr old father!

If the jib had been a bit higher they could have hooked up to the overheads and run it as a big electric kettle saving on coal costs.

What was the stationary engine outside the 'Iron Works' cutting logs? (Robey?)
