Cheiftain Tank Idlers
I'm looking for two good tank idlers off a Cheiftain Tank. I need them with the centres still in (rather than bored out).
I am aware of one source but Hampshire is a long way from me in Shropshire, and Diesel is expensive. Does anyone nearer have two useable ones knocking about that may be availible somewhere nearer to me?. Or perhaps another dealer who has a stock? Ones exacly like this http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/12/008_0955.jpg Any leads gratfully recieved. PM please. |
Yes we have

No you don't Chris,
They are 8 stud and narrower in the rubber. Ex Comet/Centurion/Cromwell tank (and Bomford Living Van). I was talking to the man who sold you them yesterday afternoon. The Chieftain ones are 10 stud, and easier to come by. |
Assuming you've already gotten in contact with us Hedd?

Some of the Bomford vans have not got the tank hubs like yours, but have a single idler each corner welded to the lopped off spoke centres, some had the 8 spoke wheels, some the back to backs. Some Jackson vans also have got them fitted the same way. I was going to do this with my Bomford wheels, but have now decided on ball bearing hubs given the speed It'll be doing behind the Marshall. |
