Lathe Wanted

Hi Guys,

Well after selling my machines back in June to fund house projects, i'm now in the process of replacing them, so if anyone knows of any lathes for sale please get in touch.

Looking for a swing of atleast 9 inch and single phase, can't fit any thing to big as only going in wooden 10 x 8 workshop. Anything considered.

Thanks
Andrew Gallacher.

Forgot to say, I've got £500/600 to spend.

Cheers

Andrew.

Would a myford ML7 meet your needs?

Hi Smithers,

Thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind, but really wanted something with a little bigger swing.

Thanks

Andrew.

I have a chipmaster and must admit they are a great lathe. And I think that is a good price.

I would not touch it . They admit that they cannot get the clutch to grip , and chipmasters have a variator transmission , which when worn can collapse totally . Go on the archive section of the ' Lathes for sale ' website and read up any lathe which you consider . Spare parts for machine tools are ridiculously expensive .

Worn Variators can sound very noisy in a Home Workshop make sure you hear it if you consider a Lathe that uses one.

They were made by a German Company called Kopp, spares may be available but are likely to be expensive.

This is the site referred to by Weidner above.

Cheers guys for the info, but that is out my price limit, plus it would more than likely break my shed floor!!

Will keep on looking, there's plenty on ebay but all way down south!

Thanks again

Andrew.

Hi phil,

Thanks, but I need a cabinet mounted lathe ideally as would take up to much bench space.
