Nice to see some pictures of the Steam Yachts with the new paint work on the legs and framework plus the repaint of the boat, Shamrock. Ted and the team has the ride looking a lot better now, more to come over the off season weather permitting for painting etc...and agreement on the colour of Columbia ;) Brian |

Photo No: 34
engine marked - John Atkinson, Cornwall Can you please tell me a bit more about it anyone ?? Looks like it has a double cylinder so I take it, its sort of superheated ?? cracking photos, many thanks Nick |
It's a tandem compound with low presure cylinder in front of high pressure cylinder. It therefore has a single crank rather than double crank where cylinders are set out side by side. The exception being Burrell single crank compounds where cylinders arranged diagonally using a common cross head and single crank.
The engine is a McLaren resconstructed by John Atkinson from parts imported from some far off country I believe. |
