So is the GMT nearly finished then steve ?.

Me too also, tho I did get to Hollowell but was told not to move out of the campsite. Other wise everything else has been cancelled, and the only one re-scheduled has been Potton End (to end Sept) .

Lets hope Haddenham goes well too (tix for that arrived yesterday).

Funny thing is tho, there should be a music festival at OW this weekend. It was cancelled a few weeks ago - and amongst the excuses was possible weather & ground condtions. Since then its been fair to hot round here ......

notyalc 24th August 2012 06:51 PM

Speaking to young Mr Steam at Lincoln last weekend he assured me that the good weather was on order.....

buggeroff 24th August 2012 07:32 PM

sounds good to me Anthony.

Chris.

Bob Davis 24th August 2012 08:03 PM

We do not cancel we just adjust to the conditions!!!!

Bring it on

davek0974 3rd September 2012 04:58 PM

It'll be the only show I have this year, couple of wash-outs and holiday got in the way of the rest!!

Definately be there, can't wait.

Mr Steam Jnr 4th September 2012 01:49 PM

Ok so as we get closer .......

60 Full Size Steam Wagons/Waggons entered from 12 different manufacturers

Mr Steam Jnr 6th September 2012 07:21 AM

28 Miniature Wagons entered from 9" - 1" Scale, including three 9" Scale Foden C Type Wagons

ttp2011 7th September 2012 03:20 AM

Oh Dear ! should have gone to the Robey Trust at Tavistock this weekend (8th & 9th September) for their Heritage Open Days - Works are open to the public for the first time in two years ! fine weather is forecast, only three feet of snow will cause the event to be cancelled !!

PS: I have been to TWO rallies this year, Torbay and Stithians. This year has been a total washout. Does anyone know how I can convert my 1997 BMW 528i SE automatic into a motor boat ? it is rear wheel drive, so do I take the wheels off and extend the propshaft and fit a propeller and rudder as well as additional floatation tanks ??

Mr Steam Jnr 10th September 2012 09:26 AM

Weather booked

Choices choices - Old Warden, Little Casterton, or both and hope that I don't get a call out on one day?!

Well done Mr Steam Jr, looks like perfect weather for me.

It was too darn hot at Haddenham, tho that is better than Dorset style rain.

To that add Statfold and BC !!

sparkright 10th September 2012 08:08 PM

Now if you were keen you could do all of those, BC might be pushing it though!

paxman man 11th September 2012 05:07 PM

Got a spare hour today so gave Avis a polish and fitted the last bitt to the water cart a nice toolbox on the front with a small contractors plate so it's now complete role on Thursday can't wait especially as I was told by a certain lad that he was buying the beer on i arrival he should have checked who was crewing with us before he offered that :)

Making a welcome return since the last visit in 2007 is Burrell Scenic "Earl Beatty" up from Dorset.

Supplied to Anderton & Rowland, the well-known West Country showmen, at a cost of £3,500. The engine was given a Plymouth registration and named by the firm’s manager of the day, Mr George de Vey Snr, as Earl Beatty.

Yesterday we steamed David Philpot's Clayton from Luton to Old Warden, an enjoyable and oterwise un-eventful journey. We left David's yard at 10.25 and arrived at our peg at 18.00, 22 miles in about 7 1/2 hours including two stops to pick up water from streams and several stops to transfer more wood from the trailer to the engine bunker and a stop of about an hour for a leisuerly lunch.......However, before leaving the yard we noticed a steady drip of water from the rear left hand side of the firebox, we initially thought that it was the mudhole door leaking but on looking into the ashpan with the aid of a torch we could see that there was a leak from under the foundation ring.....So the first job on Friday morning before lighting up will be dropping the ashpan and caulking the area of the leak.
I am relating all this so as to scotch any rumours that may spread around the rally field (as they do) on someone seeing the ashpan of and various legs sticking out from under the engine that there is nothing seriously wrong!

Malc.

Couple of appetite whetters, photos taken at the latest Old Warden airshow a couple of weeks back - Clayton & Shuttleworth Convertible 1914 Traction Engine (built as a roller for the War Department), living van and (replica) Sopwith Snipe - Clayton & Shuttleworth built the earlier Camels but don't know if they built any Snipes
