Shildon Steam Weekend 14th-15th July

Usual steam weekend with a few engines at Vintage Vehicles Shildon's lorry museum on both days 10-4pm

BUT

(subject to usual disclaimers)

I am aiming to have 3315 in steam at the event and in a presentable condition, tender and boiler exams permitting. Maybe even trundling around town a bit after the public have gone home.

To celebrate I hope that local owners will join us, with or without engines, and all on TT who have followed the progress and supported by buying stuff from me, giving advice, selling parts or coming and giving a hand. If all is well, we hope to have a barbecue and a few choice beverages if a local brewer can be persuaded to do a special brew for the occasion.

Hoping you can come - oh yes, there's also a vintage tractor rally at the railway museum on the Sunday if that floats your boat...

Cheers
Anthony

Some have taken me to task for setting a deadline...well, you have to aim for something!

Museum finances suggest that this might be the last year for Vintage Vehicles Shildon, so please come and make it a weekend to remember!

Going to be a small but friendly gathering, up to half a dozen engines, all on hard standing, no mud or fields - and lots of undercover to stand and drink tea or ale in!

3315 is going to be a push given the weather, but we'll have a darned good try.

Timothy Hackworth Jr 21st June 2012 11:13 AM

Oh yes, still room for more engines though, large and small!

Ah, that explains the downpour......knew there had to be a reason......

..... wonder if the rain has drownded the cornetto, yet.

see you at the show, if not before.

Still going ahead - no grass or mud in sight. Desperately sorry for all those who have had to cancel, having been in those shoes back in 2008 and 2007, but we have hard standing and a building to shelter in - do please come and have a nose and natter if you can. There may not be another year.

StoneRoad 7th July 2012 08:59 AM

Glad to hear it, hope to get down to Shildon - for a chat and take some pictures...
...hope yesterday's downpour cleared up OK (the one on 28th June was a real deluge!)

A slightly drier StoneRoad ;)

Appearing in The Grand, Bishop Auckland and The Ship, Middlestone - and a similar ale for those coming to toast 3315 next Saturday (under a slightly different title, come and find out...)
