Did Eric Howe have any of his collection on show?
|
He had four, the two crimson Marshall's( 5nhp and the 7nhp compound), The yank(Buffalo Pitts) and the Hornsbyy Akroyd oil tractor.
|
Damien, Did you have a photo of the Foden and/or any details?
|
I have a few pics of Mr Boons machine. Had my grandfather here today telling me about a Mr Cutts using this at Sassafras for many years, when i'm not sure. Its a 7nhp compound on springs built in 1912. Its about 1 year older than my grandfathers single cylinder Foden. I have steered this in 2009 at Steamfest, its not to bad.
As for pics, here ya go http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57.../rearFoden.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57...frontfoden.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57...fodenplate.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57.../sidefoden.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57...ideonFoden.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57...s/lowFoden.jpg |
Damian, did you take any pics of the 7hp Marshall compoumd?
cheers Tim |
Damian, This may seem a strange request, but was there a programme for the event showing details of the engines. If there was would it be possible to copy the relevant sections. This would be much appreciated.

Can someone tell me please what the Tractor on the right has been adapted to do?

I too went to Steamfest on the Saturday, what a breath of fresh air compared to the H&S restrictive UK shows nowadays. Engines were free to move to various points around the ground giving show visitors close access rather than just being left lined up to one side. The steam parade was through the showgrounds, very close to the visitors and exhibitors and many thanks to David for letting me steer his Marshall for the parade. Interestingly, as soon as the parade had ended, most of the visitors left, no swilling it up in the beer tent 'till midnight, there wasn't one!! A great show, lots to see and everyone was very friendly.
Here are my pictures, some similar to what has already been posted. Martin P - Thanks for your photo's, nice to have the engine numbers.
Also to Foden Fan for his photo's. Much appreciated. Arthur |
It looks like a road grader conversion.
Sorry this ended up in the wrong place. It looks like we'll be going to Tassie in late August for our 5th wedding anniversary, (the wifes idea) will there be any steam or agricultural shows on then? It was her idea for us to go to Dorset for our Honeymoon. I'm blessed.... Cheers Trev |
There won't be much on then, most of the agricultural shows are around mid to late Spring and with the exception of the Hobart Show, all of the steam events are between Feb and April.
