Sam, while perusing some Marshall crank drawings in the car parking field we could hear you go up the hill

I had a thoroughly smashing time this weekend. Thanks to all involved.

Special thanks must go to Sawman for the super Brekky on Sunday and to Mrs BF for the shopping. Also to David and Karen Bloor for the super "emergency rations" which were attacked when the need arose. The bread and cake were superb! I will report on the jam later when I have had chance to try it!!

We also had a smashing trip on Parfield with Mike Carter & Family - brews and bacon butties while cruising the weaver!

Thanks to Alan & Jack T for the parking too!!!

A Superb weekend.

PS - tensile tested push poles a speciality..... ;)

Bet that pulled the fire through! :D

Broken Firebar 7th October 2011 07:57 PM

You didn't show the bit where the Fowler stopped the Burrell dead in its tracks!!

chris the pole 8th October 2011 09:34 AM

Thought you might remind us of that! Not quick enough with the camera I'm afraid! Plus I may of been bribed to edit the start of the video out. ;)

Sams Boy 10th October 2011 11:20 AM

Pulled the fire through? On the return match on Sunday (it, didn't stop) we set fire to the brakes on the fowler, the lagging on the Burrell and a small child who was sat on the back of the Burrell - need a canopy!

Seems a little harsh - didn't they complain as you shovelled them into the firebox?
I trust you at least gave something out of the ashpan to the parents afterwards! *think

basil JNR 11th October 2011 07:37 PM

in the dark it would have been even better!!!
there also appered on the sunday to be a load of burt leaves and ivy or something else growing up the tree also burt!!

Blunt tool 12th October 2011 12:44 PM

Just a quick question and it may make me look like an idiot but why is the steering on the opposite on the Burrell roller? Is this a standard thing on rollers as Burrel road loco's etc are on the left?

v8spider 12th October 2011 07:04 PM

Suppose towing a Fowler saves winding the brake on, like he does up the hill every year in BC;)

We will have to find a heavy object with good brakes for next years Michalmas then - probably won't have a black lump to provide the braking

Sams Boy 14th October 2011 03:05 PM

Oh and Mr Tool - I haven't the faintest idea, other than locos were generally operated by 2 bods where as rollers were designed to be operated by a single bod, having written that, if memory serves some TEs were steered from the RHS as well. I guess no one cared. I am sure someone much cleverer than me will know the answer.

basil JNR 14th October 2011 03:12 PM

All roller, rollers (not gmt's gnd's etc) are all on the right dont know why though?

buzzy bee 14th October 2011 05:13 PM
