Somehow I missed seeing the Robey portable.
Star engine must be 'Supremacy'. There is some disagreement when it last appeared in public but it is around 40 years ago. |
Superb selection of steam exhibits and one or two that I've not seen before .
The Robey portable is BIG to say the least , how many horses would be needed to shift that back in the day .*think One day is not enough especially when the weather is nice . Dave |
Well done to Bob in getting Lady Reglan going after buying her last year.Full steam ahead now Bob.
|
another excelent Lincoln rally, we enjoyed it and so did my 3 year old grandson" Harry",, thanks to Dave, Helen, Hayley and Sophie Webster for taking Harry for a ride and he steered their Fowler, didnt half bring a tear to the eye.

Super day at Lincoln yesterday. Great parade of engine's some iv'e not seen before, looking forward to seeing them again and again.

It was good to see 'Lady Raglan' out and in steam.
Clearly a lot of work has been done over the last 12 months or so. Last year at Joe Powell's sale, although complete, it was obvious it would take a lot of hard work to make it steamable once again. Could this be the longest restoration project? I think Joe started in the 1960's. |
Thoroughly enjoyed my first weekend as an exhibitor, for those who enjoyed seeing Lady Raglan in steam for the first time, special thanks to the following who played a part in the retoration, Dave Ragsdale, Ted Middlemiss, Eddie Ralph (signwriter) but a extra special thank you to Matthew Sheldon and his late father Dave, without whose commitment and skills the project would have been an even longer restoration.

A few of the miniatures, I'm not sure if people are interested. Most are 4 inch though theres a couple of six inches and the B6 road loco is 3 inch.

Any more of Pete Gull's Marshall tractor anyone?
|
Thank you to everyone who came and/or Exhibited, It was a really amazing weekend and i hope we can do it again next year. Its lovely to see just how many people do attend these rallies and the feedback we get is amazing!
Thanks to all!! |
I'd like to echo everyone who said what a wonderful rally it was, I thoroughly enjoyed my day there. Thanks also to everyone I chatted to, especially James Waterfield and for the steer round with the Wallis. It has definitely made my mind up that next year, I will bring Maud here to commemorate the 50 years since she left the fenlands of Lincolnshire for the hilly environs of North East Cheshire and North Derbyshire.

A few engines that caught my eye which haven't appeared in others pictures.

We had an excellent weekend at Lincoln. The company was good, the weather was excellent, the beer was plentiful and of course the rally was bigger than ever. I took some video clips on the camera during the saturday evening, the video can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHQNol7d1kw

I was looking for a gentleman called Ted Middlemiss, I saw his name pop up in this thread. I wondered if anyone has a contact e-mail or number I could reach him on.Thanks Dave :)
|
I think he can be contacted via Cheffin's Autioneers in Cambridge. He advises on buying and selling engines.
|
Thanks for the reply Chris, I was looking for a planer machine. An old friend of Teds said he was a good person to ask. I have managed to get hold of one but its still good to know where I might find him. No doubt some advice might be required when I start putting this thing back together.
Thanks again Dave :) |
Ted Middlemiss is Henry Maudsley here on TT.
It is Ted's brother Willem who works with Cheffins . |
