Duncombe Park

A reasonable day was had on the Duncombe Park estate, Helmsley despite 50% more cloud than anticipated! A re-run pretty much of 2010's event with only a handful of changes to the line up, perhaps most enjoyable moment of the day was listening to the commentator as the engine's passed through the ring, his description of the 'extremely rare Aveling & Porter Showman's Engine 14070 'Billy Boy' - one of only ten built' was worth the entrance fee alone!

For anyone travelling that way tomorrow the line up consists of

Aveling 8601/8754/10575/11450/12115/14070/14071/14125
Burrell 2093/2417/2696/3444/3526/3888
Clayton 38742
Foden 13218
Foster 14632
Fowler 9055/11114/11352/14321/14406/14893/15462/15981/16008/16289/16851/17106/17470/17585/Pheonix
Garrett 32762/33248/33486
Mann 1386
Marshall 32092/38024/46276/51483/74614/76890/87003
McLaren 682
RSJ 24585
Yorkshire 117

In addition DMCRE's Robey is to be found in the working area

Went both days, program not up to much, as I arrived yesterday a certain engine was leaving at the request of the organisers as no paperwork to go with engine. Went today much better weather with a good attendance, shame Micks Mac did not make it.

Highlight for me was the T3B roller, that still had it's front rolls, lovely little engine.

Went on saturday and had a great day out, hope to have my engine there next year.

Chris.

Great weekend. Well deserved by the GYTEC team after some fairly moderate weather for some of the past events.

I am glad I gave it a miss if poor old Billy Boy was there, it would have completely spoilt my weekend. thumbdown

No play pen this year *cry
Also it would have been good to see the McLaren at this stage of it's restoration.
Despite the above I had a great day at Helmsley.

A regular I'm afraid! I think most people I brushed shoulders with were most impressed with ex Whitby Council T3 roller 16851, unspoilt!

There were more 'unspoilt' engines as you call them than spoilt ones. A thoroughly enjoyable weekend.

Same could be said for almost every event, doesn't dull the enthusiasm, just makes the conversations more interesting

Great video , looks like going on Saturday was an error on my part .
The hauling display looked very entertaining , a similar event to the one at Driffield's rally.
Thanks for posting.

To be fair just to point out Ian that of these engines at this years rally NINE were not at last years event and most if not all of these were at Duncombe Park for the first time--Ian Craggs T3 roller being at its first ever rally in his ownership --so hardly a re-run of 2010

A re-run as in format, the visitors were particularly welcome, perhaps my wording was a little misleading.. The T3 in particular was worth the visit having only seen that working at Beamish in April '10, Marshall 74614 significant as ticket due to expire soon.

As mentioned the play pen/second ring was missing, the only significant change from 2010 - in format.
