Btw, all I got was the tickets, no booking in info etc, is coal provided?

not sure, the year I went with the Ransommes (long time ago) the coal that was, could only loosely be described as coal.

It was black thats about where the resemblance to coal stopped. Luckily last years coal was supplied by Andy Holmes so was good stuff.

You might well find some of that coal in the hedges between Weeting and home cant think how it got there.

I'll be there from Friday morn til Sunday Eve. Been Andys coal for the last couple of years, so good stuff (do I get another bag now Andy !! LOL)

Don't believe it will be Andy's coal this year.

If anyones interested I fitted a small camera to one of my toy aeroplanes and flew over the weeting rally field (on one of our club days, not when the rally was on!). Its quite interesting to see the model train track layout and Little Barford chuffing up the train line. Go to youtube and look for videos by steamfly3535 or just steamfly (I cant remember what name I used!) you will see what I mean. I wouldn't mind overflying the site last thing at night I think the fair etc would look great.

Lets hope they have not resorted back to the smokey old crap they used to use. If so there will be a black smoke trail from Weeting to Billericay on the Sunday night!

Jim - it sounds like you will be dropping the fire after the first hour .

It just goes to show that some rally organisers never learn , or never want to .

If the exhibitors are unhappy then the public are not likely to enjoy themselves either .

I have a picture somewhere from a visit to weeting some years ago, I took it as we walked into the main field facing the large engines, all you can see are a row of front wheels and the rest of the picture was just thick dense smoke from one end of the line up to the other :(

I must admit after some rallies there with my old Aveling roller I was pleased to get home and away from the sulphur and thats from someone who loves the smell of coal smoke.

We will be going for the first time ever. Probably on the Saturday. I will be wearing my Traction-Talk tee-shirt. If you see me, please come and say HELLO! I don't bite - I just like some interesting conversation - relieves the boredom of listening to "Her indoors"!
Last time I was at a rally site in East Anglia was in 1970 at Caenby Corner.

Malc, remember I am in The North East where we consider Doncaster as the centre of England. Anywhere South of there is either East Anglia, London or the Midlands. In my RAF days I frequently went to Binbrook, Nocton Hall, Digby & Manby and the RAF considered them all to be in East Anglia. I cannot argue with them.......

If you are going to weeting this year you probably seen the new passes, a strip of green plastic that is to be fastend round the wrist. And it HAS to be warn for the full 3 days! Not sure how well it will stand up to 3 days use, the manufacturers web site says they are only good for one to two days.....

I hate those poxy things.

Doesn't it say in the paperwork somewhere one band is for one vehicle and one person?

How do they fix, I looked at them and it doesn't look obvious??

Of course I may just be dense:)

Does seem an odd way of proof but I guess we need to follow the rules;)
