Just got back from the rally site and everything looks like its coming together nicely. Knowing whats in store for this year, I think it will be the best Welland up to now. Besides the NZ lads and the Heavy haulage arena which is new to here, there are engines that have never been seen here before. Coming from all corners of the UK. Live entertainment on the outside stage (Saturday Evening) including the UK`s number one Michael Jackson tribute plus guests. loads of working demonstrations. An excellent vintage fairground. Something for all the family. Fridays auction have around 2000 lots. If you have not been before, this is the year to come.

Looking forward to it, cracking rally! :)

Just got home from Welland 2011, we had a fantastic time at what must surely be the country's No 1 steam rally for genuine fans of vintage stuff of all types. Given the bigger rallies seem determined to become folk festivals I think the committee at Welland are doing a fantastic job and have exceeded all previous years this year on so many fronts. Security was first class this year thanks to the introduction of a new security firm, we had a whale of a time on the vintage funfair with the debut my little Austin car ride and I want to make a special thank you to the steam men who drove the fair all weekend. They really separated the men from the boys and in particular Philadelphia who drove us all day Friday and Saturday. (Not bad for a Burrell) Ok Ok I'm kidding but we are very grateful to them.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again next year |
