Newby Hall Rally 2011 (Ripon, N. Yorkshire)

Once again the YVA are having their annual rally at Newby Hall. Last year there was 1 steam engine present (a rare American model, whose name escapes me).

Entry froms are now available for this years event which will be held on 12th & 13th June. All exhibitors get a free pass into the catering tent where there is a variety of free food & drink laid on.

For more details & entry forms follow the link below.

It was the Ward brothers Huber in the capable hands of Gary Holder. Some of the same owners rare and unusual tractors were also present including the Walsh and Clark.
This is a first class event in a lovely setting with a very diverse range of tractors, stationary engines, working displays, cars and commercials etc.

Who did you ask? I am a member of one of the organsing groups and we have always been told that all exhibits are welcome. I will have a word with the rally secretary if you want and find out whats going on.

I will get in touch with the rally secretary and see what he has to say. Do you know who it was you spoke to, that said they didn't want steam engines?

As I said earlier I was always under the impression that all exhibits are welcome. The way I see it, is if there is a steam engine, its yet another attraction for the public to come & see, and should therefore be welcomed with open arms.

I have a feeling that the owners of Newby Hall had requested no steam engines when the rally first started. I think there had been an event there in the past with some and there had been quite a mess left behind. That is what I was told anyway.
Still a good do though with plenty to see.

Not heard anything about that myself. Plus they had one there last year.

There is to be a special display of International Harvester products this year. The organisers are keen to get as many of their diverse range of products there as possible. Use the link above for entry details.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

The rally secretary (our club chairman) borught the matter up at the last comittee meeting. The are sticking with the no steam approach (which I think is ridiculous). When asked why the Huber was allowed last year, he was told that its because it was a 2 man tractor.

I apologise for geting your hopes up, and hope that you enjoy the rally despite not been allowed to take your engine.

Regards
Mike

Thaught I'd just remind you its this weekend. No steam but lots of tractors, stationary engines, cars, commercials, working exhibits etc as well as the fantastic gardens of Newby Hall.
Should be a great weekend with lots of unusual stuff to see.
Look out for tar-pot jnr.'s stationary engine and hand operated sheep shearing machines!
