Beamish : Great North Steam Fair

I'm hoping the weather plays ball for this event this year , looks like there is going to be some excellent exhibits on show around the museum.

Hopefully the weekend will be fine given that a trip to Southport for the Riverside event is also a must.
Looking forward to seeing Fred Dibnahs engines for the first time thumbsup

shame both events are on same weekend.

Cygnus X-1 19th February 2011 10:31 AM

Weather permitting I hope to make it a double header and catch both events .
The winter has taken it's toll this year for me .

I'm really looking forward to this event......
and since it is over four days, I think I might stand a chance of a proper visit!

Still hoping we might make it...in one form or another. All depends on the new tender getting here and being fitted.

Steamhead21 24th March 2011 10:16 AM

Beamish

Hope you get there Anthony.

Best of luck, will be nice to see the old girl moving around her resting place of so long under her own steam!....
Anthony.

Touch and go, but it seems that the new tender will not be ready sadly. Will have to wait a little longer to lay the hill out of the colliery village to waste, but it will be worth it. Could bring it as a big portable, but it's not so easy to move round without a back end.

High Heels ?

weidner 24th March 2011 10:38 PM

Never mind . Wait until you can road it to Corbridge up the A68 . Castleside Bank will be a doddle .

notyalc 6th April 2011 07:03 PM

1 week to go!..

TBirdFrank 8th April 2011 05:06 PM

Any sign of 703 (101) coming out to play???

StoneRoad 8th April 2011 08:45 PM

s'land 101

Sorry, but I suspect that this one will be confined to the shed - and Newcastle 114 will be as well.

(at least, that is what I remember from the blog posted by the keeper of transport)

If you want the links I can put them up!

Cygnus X-1 9th April 2011 11:22 AM

According to the Beamish blog the Fowler B5 that was expected is now doubtful :( .
I was really looking forward to seeing this engine , I hope it appears despite the doubts .

notyalc 9th April 2011 08:54 PM

Yes.

notyalc 12th April 2011 07:31 PM

1 Day to go!

Timothy Hackworth Jr 12th April 2011 07:38 PM

And 3315 will not be there sadly. :-( Going for the day on Friday if all is well though :-)

StoneRoad 16th April 2011 07:45 PM

I managed to sneak a visit into Beamish today....weather was kind, which was nice.

A lot to see, so a most interesting time wandering around, even if one or four of the palnned exhibits hadn't arrived, never mind, there'll be another chance (I'm sure!)

During the afternoon, I counted up - there were at least eight items there that I had had something to do with.....some bigger than others!

Well worth going!

Timothy Hackworth Jr 16th April 2011 08:33 PM

And next year there will be another...I hope. Trust the lid arrived safely?

Cygnus X-1 16th April 2011 09:11 PM

Some photo's from today at Beamish , really nice day with a lot of interesting items on display .

Who now has John Woodley's waggon? Sentinel 1465 (AW3321)

Timothy Hackworth Jr 16th April 2011 10:06 PM

Guy Rutter, same chap who owns the little red Advance I had the pleasure of pottering around with yesterday.

StoneRoad 17th April 2011 09:31 PM

By the way, who was driving the Green sentinel on Saturday? I was hoping to take pictures, but my little camera was not playing at all!

And, yes, the Lid did arrive safely, care of Dave Antell....;)...

Out of the rail exhibits, I did like "Jack" and Baxter and Coffee Pot made a good pair...

I'm already looking forward to the next events (and Power from the Past in September!)

Puff 18th April 2011 02:18 PM

Leaving at 6am my boyfriend and I were at Beamish yesterday - and what a day! The sun was out and nice blue skies, lots of public and steamers to boot :)
