Astle Park

We made a quick visit to Astle Park today. Nice weather and a good line up of engines. We took our daughter's highly strung Australian Kelpie along. She did not like it at all, particularly the organs. My wife took over the camera so I set it on 'Auto' but forgot to tell her about the zoom ring. All in all she did well.

Nice to see the pics, sitting down again! hehe

owen316 15th August 2010 10:13 PM

I camped so had the 2 days :D deffinatly a good do! Great to see all the engines again, I've not been able to play for about 2 years! Was made up to see Lord Lascelles, my favourite engine by far! Met Reliance for the first time (I think) was shocked at the fire pictures! 2 year rebuild is astonishing!

Great weekend and as per usual, I have a little sun burn on my head!

I popped over briefly on Saturday. Picked the bad weather day and made worse by a wriggling nipper who just wanted his mum. A nice rally though and good to see it looking good after last year. Managed to talk to a few faces and a brief look at the engines. A decent turn out of well presented engines. One for next years diary, pending a pass out from higher powers!

Jezus, I hope Greg doesn't use them lamps when it gets dark. The oncoming traffic will not be able to see.

Them things are nearly as bad as a welding arc!

Broken Firebar 16th August 2010 03:15 PM

They were a bugger to polish too!

Astle

Had a good time at Astle, weather stayed kind and it was well supported by exhibitors and public. Met some old friends and made some new ones. Thank you to the organisers/volunteers for all of their work behind the scenes. Some of my pics, Lee.

Astle

Well done Lee and what a cracking weekend we had, good on you lad, finished work 7 00am and straight to the rally, thats what this wonderful world of preservation is all about, although we only had 21 full size engines and 9 minatures, we had Lord Lascelles, (thanks to Alan Williams) and Renown (thanks to Howard Bros) I know I am biased, but still think Astle Park is one of the best rallies in the North West. To the Shropshire Lads who contacted me and told me their reasons for not attending, I thank you and hope you will be with us next year, to those I invited who couldn't be arsed to reply to my invitation (you know who you are) rest assured you will not be invited ever again, oh and by the way all the engines and organs were paid in full on Saturday afternoon.

Astle Park Thanks!

Hi All,

Many thanks again to Clive and Bryn for a superb rally, had a great time with the miniatures on the sunday. Great to see Terry, Alan, Alwyn, Mike, Lee, Mr Fisk too!

Fabulous day, James and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I think the worst part was 'having' to sit with the miniatures just ticking over just by the rally field and near the beer tent, sharing gossip and stories and doing the PR bit with the public, beer in one hand and regulator in' t' other!.............Bloody Awful;)...........Not!:D

Very well done everyone and damn good coal too!thumbsup

Mark, Sec, Handforth MES.

With it being a George bag I presumed Lee had treated you to some new clobber! Putting the rubbish out in my house is a job for the man of the house but I suppose Lee was still looking for his keys*cry

And I never had chance to get my camera out... *cry

Great time I had on Sunday, was a bit disapointed when I was ill on Saturday, so missed one day, but made sure I attended one of the days.

Thanks Bryn. :-)

Thanks for the opportunity Bryn. Although we've both been coming to Astle Park for as very long time, this was the first time we had exhibited our own machine. A brilliant weekend. Well done to all concerned.
