Good day out at Flookburgh , one or two missing engines but and a damp arena but events continued no the less thumbsup
The Merlin and Griffin aero engines looked and sounded great too. Dave |
We were camped very close to the Aero engines, and when they were demonstating, you could feel the caravan floor vibrating.
Awesome engines. I am sure Hercules on here will be posting some pics of the road run. They should all be dried out by now. Regards John |
John,
Many thanks for these super photos. In particular thank you for photographing the models as well, too often we get super pictures of the full size engines but the models seem to be forgotten. Edward. |
Hi all, I can echo Johns comments, good rally with plenty to see and do, very good value for the public. When I left last night at five o clock the classic cars were still in the ring with plenty of the public still watching, there seemed to be constant entertainment throughout the day including lawn mower racing! Nice road run into the village on the Saturday night for a pint was the highlight for me, and I'm still not dry! A few pics of the engines. Leehttp://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tti/10/234_0033.jpg

Oh just wonderful. Those pictures bring it all back - roast hog, scrumpy, steel band, helicopter flights, stalls selling everything, steam fairground, Gipsy Rose Lee, craft, model and Lakeland produce tents, steam organs, threshing and sawing, innovative contraptions attached to stationary engines, tractions engines of every description, road vehicles of every type. Wasn't it nice to go back to your caravan have a cup of tea and chew the fat with the neighbours. Then - off again.

Sorry I have renamed the folder that my pics were in on photo bucket. Can i put them back on or will I have to re-post them?

Perhaps you are mistaking it for A & P "Roller Conversion" 6091 Reg. AY 9526 DUCHESS, this used to be a 15 Ton RC15 class Compound Roller, and has been to Flookburgh previously but not this year. |
Ooops , you are quite right , another Shaveling and Shporter .
Yes , I was thinking of Duchess , though the same remarks certainly apply . |
was duchess a roller i thought she was a road loco and used to have a capsten winch and work for admiralty
|
I do not think so , but I may have got the wrong end of a stick , entirely . Are you perhaps thinking of Samson , an ex Chatham Dockyard engine which was converted by the showman Charles Presland , and now lives in Lincolnshire .
|
|
Does anyone know what has happened to Samson? I have not seen or heard of it since it was owned by Tom Varley at Gisburn, a very long time ago. The TE Register shows it's location as Skegness in Lincolnshire.
|
Will it show up at Haddenham for the Paisley re-union?? Anyone know what will be there? I guess Emporer won't be for one. Never comes out of Hollycombe.
