Masham 2010

Feeling like I dodge a bullet regarding the weather today , morning and early afternoon brought no wet stuff to note thankfully and the ground was up to the steam traffic test .
Enjoyable day despite the fact that I understand that it's the last rally to be held at this venue .
Hopefully a suitable alternative will be found in good time for next year.

I also had a great day yesterday. In my opinion the best Masham Rally in the last few years, mostly thanks to the kind weather, but as always, very well organised and a great show.

Took the in-laws, their 1st rally and I think I've managed to convert them - they thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Just hope the rain I can hear on my window isn't going to ruin the fun for everyone there today!

Sadly, the end of an era!

Good day out saturday, good friends to see and Theakstons to sample, plenty of things about and the weather held off and a good run up into town on the evening, hope the owner of the field see`s sense and allows this event to continue.

And a grand afternoon with no rain had today too! Not enough time to natter to everyone, but still nice to see Thai Girl and Robin Midgley's engines in particular and a lead on one or two last minute bits for 3315.

just like to thank all the engine owners for there support without you there would be no event at last the weather gods looked favorably on us and the run into town could go ahead. hope everybody enjoyed the rally and maybe we will see you next year once again a big thank you nigel

Nigel, we all enjoyed our selfs on Saturday and a good few pints as well, we all hope to return to Masham next year at the rallys new site where ever it is, then we can do the road run up the hill with our trusty Burrell and in the Sentinel S6 the year after.

personally on the engine i feel we should of turned left out of the rally field and headed towards the A1 up the steady incline which lasted for at least 1-2 miles as that would really test the engines as we found the hill was too short to really test the fowler showmans engine renown

buggeroff 20th July 2010 09:03 PM

Did that with Burrell scenic "William V" 3610 when she was in Yorksire , took her left out of gate and up hill towards A1, turned round at top and took her past rally and up into town, think we did it both days, just for something different.

Chris.

i bet that made her work, as it was our first year attending this rally we were a bit dissapointed that the road run wasn't very long, however it was still very injoyable

cheers luke

I remember one year a long time ago when Lighting 2 was roaded to Masham.
It was when Dick Preston Snr was driving, he turned left out of the field on Sunday evening back towards home.

I can still hear it now as it powered off up the hill at full chat in top gear.....wonderful stuff.

Oh thats great, thanks for trashing one of my cherished memories Chris.

It does make sense though, there was no way he was ever going to make it back to Potto before dark when you think about it.

PS
Do you know of any Sentinel's changing hands lately nudge-nudge, wink-wink.
e-mail me if you do.
If my guess is correct, it won't be a day too soon.
