British Engineerium
Hi All, It was announced at our club meeting last week that the owner of the engineerium is holding a 'work in progress' open day on sat 13th march from 10am onwards, to allow people to see how the project is progressing. This is very welcome news & I for one will be heading down there for a nose ! I don't know if it will be in steam, last time I visited the lanc boiler was being prepared for test so maybe ! perhaps someone on here can update please. All the best Ian

Thank you, il be tehre as im sure will my brother. He was the engine driver tehre for a good few years.
It will be interesting to see what has been done. Cheers Kevin |
Coal has been delivered and boiler tested all ok to steam.

Thank goodness there is some progress.
I, and I am sure many others, were starting to wonder if it would ever open again. It was sad to see it go, and even though I didnt get some of the items I had planned to bid on at the auction, it was great to see that it was being kept together and might re-open. I hope they can now make swift progress. |
Good news indeed. I drive by it a lot during my working week, and always wonder when (if) the doors will open again.

The beam engine will be running and hopefully the Corliss . There should be 2 traction engines in steam .A Garrett and a Burrel Gold Medal.

Engineerium Open Day
The British Engineerium is having a one off open day to show people the progress of restoration. It will be open to the public from 11am till 4pm. Entry will be Free!
BUT as work is still ongoing only the Boiler House, Engine House and Workshop will be open to the public. All being well the Beam Engine and Workshop engine will be in steam once again and two traction engines will hopefully be in steam. The old Car Park will NOT be open for cars, but there is plenty of parking near by, some roads do have restrictions though so do watch out. |
Had a super morning here on Saturday. All those involved in getting the show on the road are to be congratulated. Informative talks given by enthusiastic volunteers were invaluable. There has been a lot of hard work done here already, and future plans are impressive. Let's hope this iconic establishment gets the support it deserves.

Hi, great pictures of the Engineerium. I've never been there but would love to see it someday. For awhile I've been trying to get in touch with someone there but have had no reply from the website;
http://www.britishengineerium.com/ I was hoping someone on this board would know someone to contact there? Thanks in advance. -Nick |
another 1 day special
The British Engineerium is holding another open day on the Sunday10 October, I believe there will be a couple of engines in attendance. I think it's free entry but a donation would help the progress (don't quote me on the cost of addmition!)

Lowne Atmospheric engine at the Engineerium
Thanks jjg935p, I'd love to be able to make it over for it but living in the States it's a little to far to travel right now. Someday I'll make the trip though.
I'm looking for any pictures of a small Lowne Atmospheric engine that was on display in the Enginnerium before it was closed. (I'm restoring an engine like it & need pictures to scale a part from.) I just received a short email back from Mr. Rathers that works at the museum, he said that it is no longer there & that the engine was probably disposed of when Mr. Johnathon Minns owned the museum. Does anyone know how to contact Mr. J. Minns? I'm hoping he has some pictures of the engine. Thank you in advance for any replies, -Nick Rowland New Washington, Ohio rowland@willard-oh.com |
