tractionman 27th June 2012 04:18 PM

I heard from the chairman yesterday that it was still on

steve_m 27th June 2012 05:04 PM

If you are that worried about the rally being on or off rather than start 2 threads why didn't you contact the organisers

http://www.elvastonsteam.co.uk/contact.htm

Not difficult to find, rather than start rumours.

Bosiboz 27th June 2012 05:47 PM

The Derbyshire County Show on the ground just across the road from Elvaston Rally site went ahead last weekend. With no major rain forecast over the next 10 days it's difficult to see why it would be cancelled.

Where do these rumours come from??

Wouldn't have thought so. The gorund at Elvaston is usually quite good for drainage. Even when it gets really wet and chews up, it soon dries up. Heres looking forward to another excellent weekend at Elvaston next week.

steamenginedriver 28th June 2012 09:03 PM

I'm on the elvaston committee.

As far as I know there will be an inspection of the ground over ther weekend. I will post any updates on here and on the website.

There has been a site meeting this morning at 11am, and unfurtunately we have had to CANCEL this year's rally due to the ground conditions.

Exhibitors, Traders, Campers, etc should be contacted by your section heads in due course.

The rally will not be postponed, so we hope to see you all in 2013!
Happy Steaming!

Thank's for that, I did get a phone call from a lady today informing me of the cancellation. My first cancellation of the year, I wonder how many more will occour?:(

How wrong one can be. This is the site today. Although parts of the actual showground look in good condition it like a big sponge with water ouzing up wherever you put your foot down As for the car parks and caravan / camping area it's not a pleasant sight
