Wanted 4” Miniature Burrell Project
Hi,
Looking for a 4” Miniature Burrell Traction Engine Project. Wanting something part built not complete or a pile of bits not started. Must be a few about somewhere? Maybe tucked away that you’ll never going to get around to finishing? Many thanks, Minibarmy. |
NOT mine.... but this is on eBay... It had sold a few days ago, but it got relisted due to the buyer not realising there was no boiler paperwork with it, despite the seller stating that in the description.... I considered buying it as a 2nd project, but I have plenty to be getting on with with my Foster...... so I must behave.

Station Road steam have one available with a commercially made boiler, wheels are rubbered as well so most the expensive bits are done.
|
Thanks.
I have seen both of those for sale, the eBay one is a pile of bits I can buy from Live Steam Models and an uncertified boiler which is pretty worthless, together the components aren’t worth anywhere near the asking price and I’m after a project someone has already made a good start on not going from scratch. The part built on Station Road Steam although on its wheels needs a lot of work redoing as the spokes on all wheels are just wrong! A lot of the parts that come with it are not of any use. I made an enquiry a while back but there’s no manoeuvre on price and we’re quite a distance apart on my valuation to the asking price. |
Hi,
agree on the Station Road Steam 4" - the spokes are a real joke ;) Best Christoph |
The boiler on the ebay engine displays the telephone number of TRS boiler makers, may be worth an enquiry to them to see if they have any duplicate documentation. still expensive though.
|
Already spoken to Terry at TRS. He’s had quite a few enquiry’s about this boiler, unfortunately he hasn’t got any records for it and indicated that it’s 17/18 years old.
Knowing this there’s hardly any value there as you can buy all the items from Live Steam for around £1500 new. |

Good point but it still seems 'unprofessional' as a few box files would probably store 20 years worth of boilers. It's not like it would require rooms of storage.

Carl,
You could not be more wrong a CE approved boiler will now have so much paperwork with it that in some instances my boilers are supplied with as much as 70 pages depending up on the materials certificates. The CE approval standards we have to work to ie The Pressure Equipment Directive EC97/23 (originally enforce in May 2002) and the latest 2014/68/EU both state that all Certificates must be kept for a minimum period of 10 years. I have boxes and boxes of records I have to keep. |
Very quite everywhere at the moment.
Anyone got anything or know of anything for sale? |
