Gloucestershire Steam Extravaganza 2010
Loads to see, as always, a new layout and hundreds of of TT members! A selection from me:
http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...5_DSC_8606.jpg Excellent collection of rollers as is the norm at Kemble. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...8_DSC_8609.jpg Aveling 5853 was at Kemble in steam for the first time http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...7_DSC_8761.jpg Burrell 2003 "Diamond Queen" now lives locally and was attending Kemble for the first time. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...0_DSC_8799.jpg Tasker Convertible Tractor 1902 was hauling round the original front roll from the engine. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...6_DSC_8805.jpg Fowler T3 15964 has changed appearance recently with new livery and now with no canopy. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...1_DSC_8816.jpg An engine I've not come across before, Aveling 11446, Seagry. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...8_DSC_8836.jpg Engine John's 6" Burrell RL pulling 30 odd tons of Burrell hardware. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...5_DSC_8931.jpg All eyes were on the Vulcan bomber. http://www.steamscenes.org.uk/tth/10...2_DSC_8957.jpg Then the rain came. Well done to the organisers and thank you to everybody who has attended with exhibits. |
A cracking event again.
A superb collection of exhibits - with the Vulcan being the icing on my cake. The one tiny thing that really impressed us most was being offered a wrist band for our eldest to put a mobile number on - such a simple idea but one we had not seen at a rally before. Despite the rain we really enjoyed it (coats, trousers etc still drying now!). Great to catch up with a lot of people too Looking forward to next year. |
Ace! So many nice engines. Looks like a brilliant do. The little T3 in Fowler brown looks really good.

Cheers Carl. |
We have been doing this for several years now, and we are pleased to say it works extremely well and cuts down any stressful periods during 'incidents' for parents and organisors alike.

A superb weekend.
Thanks to Matt and Rachel for their efforts. Thanks should also go to Sawman for his hospitality, to Ted for cheffing lunches for 20, to Sarah for making Chilli for 20 odd and to the various providers of beer! Good company and a brilliant rally. Great to see the youngsters being allowed to get hands on. Thanks to all. |

Nice one roy, i tightened the packing gland later and eliminated that little 'hiss', so now you,ll have to come over and make a vid without it!! nice to have met you, what a great weekend! Regard,s Nigel

Glad the hiss has gone. Would enjoy another recording session, but your profile says you do not live anywhere! And I am not good at finding anywhere. Anyway I am sure you would not steam up especially just for me, so perhaps we can try again next year. |

Hi,
Just a few from me... The last shot of the compound Fowler was the engine I was lucky enough to steer around the ring late on Sunday. Absolutely fantastic! :D BR Jez. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/...a6692aab_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/...3446e575_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4118/...745d599e_b.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4120/...32395d35_b.jpg |
Steam Scenes now features a selection of pictures taken at this event. This should serve as a list of all engines present, I think I got every one!

I had just commented over the PA that the last time I remember seeing a Vulcan in flight was back in the sixties in Bristol when they used one to in flight test the engine for Concorde by flying with one fitted below the bomb bay. Just after I had said it the Vulcan came over again - with the bomb bay doors open. Someone not far away from me said "They must have heard you".....
