You got a problem Steve?

YA1177 5th July 2010 04:31 PM

Not yet, but it might in time.
There's been a crack in the rim since I brought the engine, I have been keeping an eye on it but when I looked this weekend it looked bigger !!!!!!

Steve

Just an idea, but why not monitor it this season and then send it to Cast Iron Welding Services over the winter and have the crack ground out and welded.

That is the plan, but I wanted to see if I could find another just in case it don't last the season out as i still have about 100-120 mile to road this year.

You could have the rim turned parallel and a steel band shrunk on . It would not be the first engine to have this treatment .

Steve.

Just a bit of lateral thinking.

Stop looking at it.

But seriously, thats a bit of a bummer!

Our flywheel was welded in the 50s apparently so i wouldnt worry about having it done.

Has Michael Watts still got the one he used to have on his Marshall?

Just a thought?

Can you drill a small hole at the end of the crack? Generally the way to stop cracks going further, just a thought Steve.

Cast Iron Welding Services have done some good work for me and come recommended
