David Colledge got some engines there and I PMed him this morning, he had two of me crossing it. I asked him if he got you and said he would have a look through later in the day. Maybe he found something. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=20374 |
Brian I didn't get one of you at the water splash just out on the open road near Sandy

Tim was probably 45 minutes before me so it depends when you got there, I saw a number of photographers and what looked like video equipment to so hopefully something will turn up but than you very much for min and for looking for Tim. Brian (still grinning from ear to ear) |

Thanks Dave, I remember seeing you quite early on, you were stood in the hedgerow before the roundabout at Upper Caldecote. Looked a little lonely there by yourself ;) I found your photo album last night and saw the picture of Blackbeard, he really does look splendid now with his wagons, just need to get the sign writing of the engine, wagons and bowser to finish it off. Great photos as always Dave. Brian |

That's the Clayton, a classic TE & still on strakes with nicely weatherd paint, lovely. No wonder Hughes chose one for the chapter in his book 'A century of Traction Engines'.

[QUOTE=Bosiboz;314122]Is it this one?
Thanks for the pictures Bosiboz. A Fletcher design clayton, built in 1899, no 32900 HK9836. Owned by Philp Family in Castle Hedingham Essex and restored / cared for by John Garwood. We had a fantastic day out with her. As always, she performed perfectly and was a pleasure to drive around. Its great to see some pictures from the other side of the hedge. Next time you see us out please come and say hello and have a look up on the footplate. |
I have travelled many miles on the road on that engine and she is a real beauty.
As you say, strakes, lovely mellowed paintwork and a handsome engine too. Without doubt she is a credit for those who care for her. Jim |
More photos anyone????????????????
We were a bit too busy with the Barford to take many . |
Peter
You should like this one, its one of Grahams, not mine. The view behind us as we were leaving. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.n...f297d8b3311e29 |
Just thinking to myself how good it would have been to get all of the Wallis's involved together for a photograph, when I realised I didn't see any Advance rollers there. Were any involved, I couldn't see any in the programme? It's odd that with so many produced, and so many preserved there wasn't a representative of the type on show.

sometimes I think I am seeing double !

Hope you all like them. https://www.facebook.com/paul.fisher...1561510&type=3 p.s, there is also a video that is open to public viewing.....i know some will like it ;) |
Too many photos to post...
Rather than spend a lifetime choosing the best photos and uploading them here, instead they are all on facebook so please feel free to browse them all at your leisure using the links below. Note there is no need to log in to facebook to see them!

Mine too are on facebook along with some videos.
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=56801286b9 Incidentally, can anyone tell me what that trailer was pulled behind the big Clayton? It looked like one of the old Maglev carriages. |
It is or was an old Whipsnade Zoo land train carriage. Nothing to do with Maglev.

Were there more? |
And Foden D types.
Not many photos of MacLaren plougher Hero , I suspect we started too early ! The second engine to leave I think. |

Middle route ? i passed a plougher heading between Langport and Henlow and said to me misses that i was surprised to see a plougher on the middle run, once i'd finally turned around and went back up the road i'd lost sight. |

So... does anyone have photos of any engine standing in the ford, that I could use to form the basis of a future drawing? I do not simply copy a photograph; my drawings are often based on one particular image and then changes made to the foreground and background to create a strong composition. In this case, as water is difficult to depict, I would use the photograph to a greater degree than normal but still add other elements such as figures. The engine needs to be standing and not moving – the reflections in the water will look different, also still on strakes would be very useful. At the risk of repeating myself... my drawings are not created for profit; it is a form of therapy to help me deal with my illness. I always produce a small number of prints for people who have helped in the production of the artwork but I do not intend to market prints commercially – stress and hassle are extremely bad for my condition. I cannot imagine starting this picture for several months and then it will be quite some time before it is finished; I work on several drawings at one time and find I need to “live with” elements as the picture evolves. If I get a chance later I will look for some archive photos and post them. I can be contacted by PM if anyone prefers this. Thanks in anticipation, Michael |
Photographs of Hero
As promised, photos I took of Hero. By my reckoning you were the second engine to leave, the first being Mr. Tweedy.

"Steaming my way" aka Robin got some crackers at the ford.
Black Jim we saw you leaving as you trundled past the low loaders and didn't see you again! |
Hero & crew were up far too early for my liking and just managed to grab some shots as they departed
