I didn't see anything on the tender or horn plates, but I didn't get up there (just looked over). Maybe this is bit of a wind up me thinks., who knows. Anyone got a real photo of whatever number was present, if any ??.

The owner knows the number because he told me.

David, that's a load of grease around where the flywheel brake goes (or should go) and I cannot believe the number is 77. If its 77, it must be in the 1800 hundreds. One of the first Fowlers ever built. I may be on the wrong road, but is it a Fowler ?. The flywheel looks a bit to big for my liking and it had drain cock levers on both sides instead of one.

It certainly looked like a Fowler to me, and the number on the headstock is 77 as I saw it on Thursday without the grease on it. I am guessing that 77 is the fleet number? It has had a hard life judging by the worn and wobbly gear on the offside and the cast rear roller rings had a few chunks out of them. My question is how many Fowler rollers have wood in between the wheel rim and the tyre? It will certainly be a nice engine when restored.

Matt

Anyone got any photos of the showmans line up or the working field and the commercials ?. It was a good rally but a shame it rained on Saturady evening. I felt sorry for the fair lads as not many where riding because of the weather. (You can put on a good event but you are not in control of Mother Nature )

1295 is a fabulous engine, great restoration. Particularly like the fact they retained some of the original lining on the tender behind the wheels:

There are a lot more details to look at if you get chance at South Cerney.

Agreed - I congratulated Richard on leaving the original paintwork uncovered. Really nice touch I thought.
On the same side as the patch on the tender, the rear section of the motion screen is also in original paint and lining. Richard said that he spent quite some time with wet and dry taking off the layers of black paint that had been put on top of the original before varnishing it.
