Pedlers mate 3rd October 2012 07:35 PM

According to metcheck the weather varies. Yesterday Saturday was shown as wet, but today it shows it as fair. It reminds me of an old rhyme

Whether the weather be fine
Or whether the weather by not,
We'll weather the weather, whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.

Looking forward to meeting several TT'ers for the first time and mucking in with some ploughing and threshing. Proper job!!! :D

Should be down on Saturday morning, looking forward to spending the weekend helping out and catching up with friends!

Expect to see four ploughing engines on the roads towards St Columb tomorrow (Friday)- whatever the weather. The weather forecasts are not consistent they seem to change dramatically every time I look at them.

I agree with you Charlie, the forecasts seem to lack a degree of consistency. However, I can guarantee dry weather between around 1130 - 1600 on Saturday as I carry a folding umbrella with me when I leave the car. This ensures that whilst I am walking around that it stays dry. It worked a treat at WESES this year. It rained all the way down from Ivybridge to Stithians and as soon as I got the umbrella out of the car it stopped and remained fine for the rest of the day!

You will likely find that the roller will leave you in the distance lol as it has done with other road locos;)

Pride of Somerset 5th October 2012 03:45 PM

Just bringing this back to the top - weather forecast looks reasonable at the moment. Heading off down west early tomorrow for two good days!

The roller had an unfair advantage though didn't it? That fourth shaft ;-) equal playing field tomorrow and being a fowler there'll be no struggling in the hills or changing down on a slight gradient ;-)

Hoping to come for the day tommorow , find out the result of the "Whacky Races"

Fowler_Man 5th October 2012 07:11 PM

A true test tomorrow Marshall vs Fowler vs Garrett. Smithy is giving us a head start!

Enterprise 5th October 2012 07:23 PM

i've got the field marshall and plough loaded ready for the morning, theres 4 or 5 tractors coming from tredinnick, looking forward to it, think the weathers going to be ok, should be a good day

ttp2011 6th October 2012 01:41 AM

Weather is supposed to clear up overnight so we will be there. I want to photograph Sister Wendy and Headland Beauty as these will be my final two images that I need for my forthcoming book. Also, I want to re-acquaint myself with Hero as I have not seen him for nearly twenty years. This particular engine has a special place in my heart as it was one of the first engines that I photographed 40 years ago when I first attended the Yelverton Rally near Plymouth and I have always liked seeing it.

adaminbt 6th October 2012 04:57 AM

Just about to go and pull the engine out the shed now - should be a brilliant weekend for all involved and lets hope the weather holds off for at least one day.

Fowler_Man 6th October 2012 11:53 AM

We've arrived! Just working out the best place to be! There's a load of beer but the organ is in close proximity

We spent a very enjoyable two or three hours at the Harvest Home event on Saturday. A big
thankyou to Steve Syms and his helpers. We hope you raised a good sum for your charity
and that this may become a regular event.
Highlight for us was to see two sets of ploughing engines working hard, and also meeting up with Pedlars Mate. Hope you enjoy your stay in Cornwall.
Stef and Di.

Hello Stefan,
I have to agree with all you said about the event, it was a pleasure to be among such good company at this new event. I have posted some photos on the show reports section. Thanks Steve and your team for a great day. :D
