I'm sure there will be plenty of willing volunteers Michaelmas weekend.

We are thinking of changing the Aveling's Name to "Burrell Beater" or one wag has said "Duck Killer" ;)

Steaming North 18th June 2012 01:31 PM

A good point Alistair! I'm sure you'll get Alex up to speed in time!

I did suggest he put his professional Latvian engine polisher on one of your courses Joe.

Then he's have both a 'man', and a polisher.

Already exists locally.

But I would vote for ANGELICA

Does BF have anything to do with this or do we simply tell him?

cocky_1987 18th June 2012 07:45 PM

Avellana is a lovely engine. A shame to see her leave these parts... but congraulations to the new owners, hope you have lots of fun with her!

Mr Compound,

I am not a medical man, at least not in the sense recognised by the General Medical Council, but I have been observing your posts and draw the following conclusions.

Of the 33 whimsical posts you have made (from which we can draw much wisdom), 19 have been downright offensive or abusive. Many are directed towards a revered an honoured elder-statesman of our movement - to wit - God. Some are directed to his hapless disciples.

I also note you cleverly disguise your insults by swapping key key letters in your tirades so as to obfuscate your true meaning - truly the work of genius, do you receive adult help with these?

Am I right in assuming that your TT-name is a reference to your doctor's advice to keep on the old "medical compound" to keep those delussions at bay from which you seem to be suffering. If so, I heartily recommend that you take his advice and ufck* off abusing my friends.

Sincerely,

Dr Kelly.

but we do not need an artificial digital 'Colgate ring of confidence'. I have seen more of BF's 'Holy Commandments' this past week than I ever need.
But what a happy bunny he is.

Mrs Broken Firebar 19th June 2012 07:59 AM

Mr Compound, please refrain from using your idiotic profanities it isn't big and certainly isn't clever. There is no need to be so rude about people you barely know. So if you don't have anything constructive to say without swearing I suggest you stay the hell off this forum!!

Steam Scenes 19th June 2012 09:01 AM

Bad language removed from posts above. I would rather keep TT family friendly.

We do have a system which stops swearing being posted but there is always a way around it as Mr Compound has exhibited.

If you don't like a post for any reason report it and I will look into it - that helps the moderators keep on top of any problems.

Mrs Broken Firebar 19th June 2012 10:52 AM

Thank you David for removing this post.

If you meant a butchers cat is happy and content then you would be correct. If you meant a butchers cat to be happy and well - fed then hopefully you could see that this could be taken in the wrong way, which is the way I took it so if I got shirty then so be it.

davy 19th June 2012 08:12 PM

A butchers cat is happy & content precisely because hes been well fed. i rest my case ....:D

Blackjack 19th June 2012 08:30 PM

Well that thread went somewhat awry! - thanks for turning up anyway - I have since had a number of people thank us for the engine turn out and it appears that Mr Basil met the only man in the village who thinks it is a bad idea to roll pies down a hill, even though said mans missus is on the organising committee - it could only happen in England!

Mark all threads on TT go awry its the nature of the beast...some members are serious, technical, knowledgeable, cynical, jovial, mis erable, happy, mischievous, devious & on & on..........but thats what makes it the enjoyable forum that it is.

He was such a pleasant chap. Can we make sure he stays a bit longer next year?

It was very entertaining to hear Basil slag someone else's car off!
