Chris.

Au contraire Chris, - when Hubert Davies, Garrett's agent in South Africa, arranged a challenge match with a Sentinel 6 wheeler in 1929 (presume it was a DG6) over 62 miles, and with the same load, the Garrett beat the Sentinel by 17 minutes. The Sentinel set off ten minutes before the Garrett, and the way Bob's book is written it isn't clear whether the margin was 7, 17, or 27 minutes but whichever, the one "way out in front" was the Garrett on that occasion. When I am up and running, we will have to have a rematch and settle the matter!

Yes, Bob, they did indeed suffer from cracked frames, but fortunately my wagon has the reinforced chassis, brought in towards the end of production, which cured the problem (I hope!) However I have just realised that one of Lavender's was also fitted with the reinforcement plates from new, so perhaps they didn't solve it. However, I won't be carrying the sort of loads these would have run with commercially, so I think we should be OK.

I had this from Stan Lavender , who would no doubt remember those which broke rather than those which did not .
