A good few engines roaded to the Stithians show ground today for the apprentice day next weekend , A good run was had by all. Good to see the Dyson trailer is being put to use by Sam, it was nearly scrapped.

McLaren 771
This is a scan of a faded print from 1989. A rally to celebrate 100 years of the tractor was held in February 1989 in Gore. A member of a local vintage machinery club had not long made up a tractor pull sledge. As the sledge is dragged down the track weights are winched forward over the skid increasing the drag. Keith Simpson with 771 was the first engine to have a go at pulling the sledge, from what I can remember. We were all very keen to see how it would perform. The track was quite soft and 771 soon ran out of power.

Seems to have pulled it to the end though. BTW are you sure you're in the right thread?
Apparently some of the non steam committee want to stop having the engines on Trevithick day! What will bring the people out then ? Endless burger stalls? St Piran flag nic-nak stalls? School children dancing? Stupid! |

Go and sit in a darkened room and wash your mouth out! Then write out 500 times, "I must not question ...", well you get the idea! It's really good to see you out and about enjoying your own engine. Cheers Carl. |

Nice to see a photo of Scooby's portable on the first page, this is for sale & if anyone wants a portable they could do a lot worse than this one! |
