It would be interesting if there could be a survey of rallies to determine which gives value for money. £5 to see five engines sounds like a rip off!!
The high costs involved in putting on a rally make it inevitable that admission charges have to rise but some rallies seem to be out to get every last penny. If the public think they have had an enjoyable day and regard the event as value for money, then they will want to come again. A few greedy operators will spoil it for everyone.

I've also started to experimenting with a (very) cheap digital camcorder that I have bought. I did some filming today at Holcot of Fowler 2528 ploughing for the first time since it's rebuild.

Please don't expect too much, I am a long way from where I want to be in terms of quality!

They had a lot of trouble with priming but when it worked well it sounded fantastic.

Note fire that starts under the engine.

Fowler 2528 sounded great, there were a few working 'singles' shouting out across the rallyfield...

Went today, 316 mile round trip, but well worth it. My 1st visit to this event. Only negative for me as a photographer (apart from little or no sun!) was all the metal fencing. Seems a bit OTT to me, just my opinion. The early Fowler ploughing engine looked a treat and is a credit to the restorers, the attention to detail is superb. Thought program was a bit poor in the steam section. (sorry).
