That’s a nice line up of timber tractors. The Unipower model G with Perkins engine is currently listed for sale on Ebay.

I'm interested in the size of the tyers, how the hub fits the wheel, the reason they have been fitted and when they were fitted.

This may seem a tryful rude, but the reason I'm asking is that my engine was fitted during its working life whith pneumatic front tyers aswell.

Burrell 3631 also had pneumatics fitted, I presume it was to make the steering easier, the front axle with hubs is still knocking around the yard somewhere. I'll take a picture next time i trip over it.

Quite a lot of 'timber' engines ended up on blow ups on the front.

I have always assumed this is because my experience shows me that engines tend to be very heavy on the front and dig in when the going is not good. I would have expected blow ups to improve matters, they are usually wider and would present a larger area to spread the load.

Not only that but they would provide buoyancy!
